Dear doctors and others kind to answer my question.
A couple of weeks ago I visited Siem Reap in Cambodia and ended up having unprotected vaginal sex with a prostitute. Two days later the same thing happened with another prostitute, only this time in Bangkok. Luck had it I made it into the hospital in Bangkok when around 65 hours after the first exposure in Cambodia had happened. The doctor subscribed me with a PEP cure (Aluvia + Truvada). I have been experiencing severe itching and redness in my face after the daily dose of Truvada, which I tried to take Zyrtec for, which helped a little, albeit not much.
Since I was able to visit the hospital in Bangkok just in time for the 72 hour limit, and the time at the hospital was around noon back in UK, I started taking Truvada+Aluvia at once, meaning that I am now taking Truvada + Aluvia around noon and Aluvia around midnight. I believe that the side effects of the noon doses of Truvada + Aluvia are far worse than the side effects from Aluvia alone. Therefore, I would like to switch so that I take Truvada before bedtime (as most others).
Some questions:
1. What are the chances of me having acquired HIV?
2. How can I change from taking Truvada in the noon to taking Truvada at midnight? For instance, should I do two doses of Truvada in one 24 hour period or should I do no doses in one 24 hour period to get it right?
3. When the doctors prescribed the medication I ended up taking 4x the recommended dose of Aluvia. This was due to me having received four cans of Aluvia, not realizing that each can was meant to last 1 week. This means that I will have 3 x 4 = 12 pills of Aluvia less than recommended, i.e. I will go withouth Aluvia for the last 1.5 days of my 28 day PEP. Should I do anything about this?
4. Is there anything I can do to avoid the blushing / itching / redness in my face?
Thank you very much for your kind answers. I know this was a stupid mistake on my part. Being back in the UK, it does feels like the doctors in Burmungrad hospital in Bangkok were more knowledgeable about the subject than here.
