unprotected vagina sex---please help

Hello Experts, I am back in this forum as i landed up in mess finally. I am HIV -ve person. I came to know a girl last year and we became good friends. She is a nurse by profession, married with two kids for past 8 years. Recently, on 28 nov we got emotional with each other and laded up doing uprotected sex. On 29 nov we went for 20 mins rapid test using drop of blood. This test was done by AFA (Action for Aids) in Singapore and is anonymous. Our results came out -ve. We got further driven into 5-6 times of unprotected sex till 15 dec. Suddenly, my anxiety became high due to fear on what if she is in window period and got infected recently. She says that she was in monogamous relationship with her hubby for past 8 years and her HIV test in 2000, 2003 and recnelty 2006 all -ve. She is ready to come for testing again.

She says that she did her last sex with hubby on 5 dec.

My concern

1) When can for testing again? Is testing after 4-6 weeks is enough for us? From other sites i came to know that teasting after 4-6 weeks is more than 99% accurate. Is it true?.

2) What are my current chances of infection?.

3) Is 20 mins rapid test by AFA is good anough?

Please advise. Thanks

There is no definite answer.  Either 4 or 6 weeks.  The longer you go, in theory the more reliable the test.

I will delete any attempts at additional questions.

Thks Doc. Yes, I have anxiety disorder and i am taking couselling for that, but my this behaviour put me under lot of stress again. My friend understands this and for helping my mental health, she is ready to come for test again and my counsellor also advised me the same. So if we go for testing after 4 week or 6 week and still results are -ve then my counsellor says that i will start  believing in reality. For the time being we have stopped getting into sex.

Doc, so please guide us on what time frame we should go for testing 4 or 6 weeks?..

This is my last post. Will not add any further post.

Thanks once again.

Technically yes, but zero risk in this situation.  dp_shah describes the safest of safe partners.

My apologies for my last gibberish. I meant to say that I was under the impression that an individual can infect fairly quickly from being infected (within a week) and that they would continue to test negative for three to four weeks, is my understanding correct?

A bit confused Doc, if she had been recently infected (say within 1-2 weeks) would she not be both able to both infect someone else and test positive?

Since you both had negative HIV tests, you could not have infected one another.  You do not need further testing.  There is no chance of infection.  The rapid tests HIV are just as valid as other tests.

Your problem is your anxiety disorder, not your HIV risks.  Seek counseling, but do not post any further questions or follow-up comments.

Note that forum rules are that nobody can post more than 2 new questions in a 6 month period.
