'Let me give you two analyses that might help you put this in perspective. Let's guess that there are a million episodes of protected sex with new partners each day in the US. Let's also say that a million people get a new viral illness such as a cold every day. If one percent of those people are in both groups, it comes to 10,000 people per day who get cold symptoms soon after sex. And not one of them has a new HIV infection.'
Dr. I've been following this forum for a long, long time and I find the above information to be so clear and sensible that it proved the final piece of my own jigsaw in terms of letting go of my irrational fears.
Just thought I'd thank you:)
You had condom protected sex. Everybody who uses condoms goes through the sort of maneuvers you did. It's not an issue. I will delete any further comments.
This is going to be my last question, please answer me. I have heard that urethra is a good source of enterance for hiv and thats where i pressed after i removed condom from my penis. I did this so that i can cover it while masturbating right away. I will greatly appreciate youanswer Doc.
Thanks
Even if your partner had HIV--which probably she did not--there was no risk of transmission. HIV doesn't enter the body through the skin.
You came to this forum for reassurance. I gave it. Accept it and stop trying to talk me (and yourself) into believing you really were at risk. You were not.
I will have no further comments.
Thanks for the reply doctor, sorry for being so much obsessive, but how many chances could it be there, that me being touching the condom and then then presing the top of pennis can have put me into danger. I know its flue season as well as weather is changing
Thanks
Many symptoms of ARS are the same as in the most common human infections, that is garden variety respiratory viruses. Fever and sore throat are at the top of the list. (Nasal congestion or nose "irritation" are not symptoms of ARS, however.) That you are having a fever for the first time in a year obviously says nothing about the cause.
Let me give you two analyses that might help you put this in perspective. Let's guess that there are a million episodes of protected sex with new partners each day in the US. Let's also say that a million people get a new viral illness such as a cold every day. If one percent of those people are in both groups, it comes to 10,000 people per day who get cold symptoms soon after sex. And not one of them has a new HIV infection.
Second, let's say you have protected sex with a new partner 6 times a year. (You're tiger, man! Or just lucky.) And you get a cold 3 times a year, which is more or less the American average. By random association, every couple of years you'll get a cold within a month after sex with a new partner. Maybe caught the cold from the sex partner, or maybe someone you shook hands with. It's still only a cold.
Some of these numbers are only wild guesses, but you get the idea. Either you caught a cold from the lady or it's just coincidence. But HIV isn't in the picture.
See a health care provider if you remain fearful. But there's really no cause for concern.
Good luck-- HHH, MD
Thanks Melted, I beleave the same but these symptoms simillar to ars scare me.
Mate you are completely and utterly at zero, and I mean zero risk,
chill out, have a beer and keep on protecting yourself!!!
The most you would have got from this chick was a cold, so dinny worry at all!
