Scared

.I just read on some of your thread on diff. strains of HIV and I started to worry. . Let me explain to you about my one day exposure. For  ONLY one day I did a group drug injection activity( we were sharing 1 needle syringe). We were so many ( I think 30 people and some are CSW and drug addicts ) and we where sharing 1 syringe needle on each other. This happened in UAE..I was scared and After that I tested negative twice by these tests (HIV ag/ab, anti- HCV, HBsAg and Hepatitis B antibody).
Dr. I wasn't sure when was the exact time I tested after my group drug needle sharing exposure. I am only sure that they were done more than 3 months after that incident.
1. ) If I was exposed to all the strains including all the rare undetectable strains all over the WORLD at the same time or for the same day ( Remember we were 30 person from ASIA, Africa. America, Europe, Antartica, Australia and every continent in the world ),  will my HIV ag/ab detect all HIV strains or somehow show an equivocal result for all rare undetectable HIV strains( which will be equivocal and need further testing according to this link ( http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV---Prevention/Final-Assurance/show/1589965  ;) after more than 3 months?
2. ) Do I need to do HIV PCR test?
3. ) Are my negative tests results of AntiHCV, HBSAg and Hepatitis B Antibody 100% conclusive after more than 3 months?
4. ) Am I 100% HIV negative for all HIV strains including all rare undetectable strains of both HIV 1 and 2 on a possible exposure to all the strains from many people of diff. nationality for 1 day only  after testing negative for HIV ag/ab more than 3 months??
5. )  Do I need more testing for HIV, Hepa C and Hepa B?
6. ) Will my HIV ag/ab after more than 3 months will miss any HIV strains?
7. ) Can I have unprotected vaginal/anal/oral sex with my wife and not worry of infecting her with HIV, hepa B and Hepa C?
8. ) Can I move on with my life and forget about this?

Oh come on.  We don't expect much of questioners on the forum, but we do expect they will read our replies!  See my original reply; I haven't changed my mind.

Any more such nonsense and the entire thread will be deleted.

In short I am 100% conclusive that I am negative for HIV, hepa B and Hepa C right?

Sorry, I have neither the time nor interest to read all this again.  The minor clarification at the top is unlikely to make any difference in my responses.

That will end this thread.  Do your best to accept the reasoned, science-based reassurance I have tried to give and move on with your life without worry about HIV.

Dr. I think you didn't understand..I  would like to correct you that I did the tests ( HIV ag/ab, HbsAg, Hepatitis B antibody and Anti-HCV ) more than 3 months not 3 months after my exposure. I would like to repeat my statements again.
Dr. Ignore the above previous questions and follow this one to avoid confusions..

Dr. Thank you for your reply I will not worry about it anymore bec. your the expert and you told me that I dont need more testing. But Im asking regarding the link http://www.medhelp.org/posts/HIV---Prevention/Final-Assurance/show/1589965 I provided.
1. ) What do Dr. Hook means about his statement.."Even 'rare' strains, which are more of a myth than a reality, would at least give an equivocal antibody test result...."

Welcome to the forum.  I'm responding to the modified version of your question, below.

You are correct that this seems a pretty high risk situation.  With as many as 30 people sharing the same injection equipment, the possibility that one of them had HIV, HCV, or HBV is a reasonable one. However, the tests you had are extremely reliable.  No matter now high the risk was at the time, the negative results at 3 months prove without doubt that you were not infected with any of these viruses.  To your specific questions:

1) The current HIV tests are among the most accurate diagnostic tests that exist, for any medical condition.  It is an urban myth that new or rare HIV strains may be missed by the tests you had, in particular the HIV antibody/antigen ("duo", "combi", "4th generation") test you had 3 months after the possible exposure.  And you misinterpreted something in the other thread whose link you provided.  In that thread, Dr. Hook wrote "Even 'rare' strains, which are more of a myth than a reality, would at least give an equivocal antibody test result...."

2-4) All those test results are conclusive.  You do not need any further testing.

5,6) The are the same questions in different words.  Same answers.

7) You can safely have unprotected sex with your wife, with absolutely no worry about infecting her with any of these viruses.

8) You can and should move on and forget about all this.

I hope these comments are helpful.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD
