Question on HIV testing

Hello Doctor,

I am a male and my age is 25 years. I am from India. Exactly 195 days from today I had a high risk HIV exposure. I haven't had any HIV risk exposures post the one that happened 195 days back from today.
I got myself tested today in a big private hospital in Mumbai with a test called HIV Elisa test by a method called Enhanced Chemiluminescence test and the result was negative. The test report said that the test was capable of detecting both HIV-I and HIV-II antibodies.

I have a slight issue here that I am hoping you can address. The lab technicians who performed my test asked me my age before conducting the test and I by mistake told them that my age is 24 years, when my age is actually 25 years. The HIV Elisa test was then performed by the lab technicians with a misinformation of my age as 24 years.

1) Do you think the wrong age that I gave them about me would have in anyway hampered my HIV test report and provided a wrong result? The lab technicians drew blood from my veins on my right hand and collected my blood sample, which was then used to perform the HIV test.
2) Do you think my HIV test report would have been different if I gave them my correct age of 25 years and not 24 years?

Re-asking the same question in different words will not change the answer.  This thread is over.  Move on.

Thank you doctor.

Can we also succesfully conclude that age of an ADULT MALE NEVER plays a role in determining his HIV antibody test result once he has been tested beyond the HIV testing window period of 3 months?

Thank you Dr.

So based on your reply above can we succesfully conclude that age of a male NEVER plays a role in determining his HIV antibody test result once he has been tested beyond the HIV testing window period of 3 months?

Please let me know.

Welcome to the forum.

You had a completely reliable, standard HIV antibody test.  Your age makes no difference.  That's not why they asked how old you are; all labs routinely keep data on patient age.  Your negative test is 100% reliable and proves you did not catch HIV 6 months earlier.  The direct answers to your two questions are 1) no and 2) no.

Best wishes--  HHH, MD
