No, I have never seen someone convert after 10 weeks. Those who seroconvert late typically have either some sort of immunological susceptibility or have taken interferring antiretroviral therapy. You do not fall into either of these categories. EWH
Hello DR and thank you for the quick response! WOW!
I am not taking inhaled therapy its in pill form if that matters. You say that Singulair will not effect my results which make me feel a lot better.
You say that 98% of people would have tested positive by now..are the other 2% immunosuppresed people?
And finally in your experience have you ever seen a patient test positive after 10 weeks? and when do symptoms if any ~usually begin?
Thank you I promise this is the end and I will not lengthen this thread.
Let's look at your situation objectively. When we do, I think you will find that you are in the clear.
1. You had unprotected rectal and oral exposure. The risk from the oral exposure is at least 100 times LESS than the risk from your rectal exposure and the risk of the rectal exposure, if your partner is infected is about 1 in 100-200.
2. Your partner states he is negative. Most people tell the truth and the fact that he has test results to show you does confirm it. As far as his being in the window period, this is a rare event - very unlikely as well.
3. Singulair will not affect your test results. The reason inhaled therapy for asthma is favored is because in minimizes systemic side effects.
4. At 10 weeks over 98% of persons who are going to test positive will do so, Your counselor is telling you the "party line" but to be honest, is being overly conservative.
Bottom line- at this time, your risk of having gotten HIV from your exposure is very, very close to zero. You have nothing to worry about and, in my opinion, do not need further testing. You did not get HIV. EWH
Red spots are leaving after 3 days not three weeks.
