Need your advice

Dear Sir,

It has been a while since I posted a question. I have done a few tests since I last posted, hiv duo at 62, 90, and 132 days. I have tested for (chlamidya, ghonorhea, syphilis 28 days)hep b and hep c after 4 months, all have been negative. In the urine analysis, they found ureaplasma. The mouth culture found candida on the tongue. Both the medications for both the oral thrush and ureaplasma (burning while urination and ejaculation) have failed to see a relief in symptoms. My mind keeps drawing me to conclusions that maybe the tests failed to pick up anything.

1. What do u think i should do
2. Should I retest for anything.
3. Is the ureaplasma or the oral thrush a cause of concern for you?
4. My symptoms of prolonged soar throat, bumps on my cheeks, pain in joints and neck relative to any std?
5. I have a really bad case of tension headaches, and flashes of stabbing in my jaw line in my neck, does that worry you.
6. I want to move on with my life from your help, my marriage is falling apart, can I have unprotected sex with my wife?
7. Did I dodge a bullet?

Final note please. I have spoken to my wife about it and she is accepting it to some extent but does not like to talk about. She believes the more I do research the more insane I will become. One thing that did want to mention to u is that I have noticed swelling in the salivary glands. I did have one that was their when I tested in the 3 months and now the other side of my cheek. It was a sad mistake when I googled it today, and u can imagine what's the first thing that does come up. Is it actually common and innocent?

You have summarized by advice correctly.  Your symptoms are not related to HIV.  Anxiety is often worsened by guilt.  Sometimes it takes a while to get over this, particualrly if you are not sharing your concerns with someone who can help you work through your anxiety/guilt/fear. EWH

Thanks for the comments. I want to move on. I assume from your advice that I am 100% negative, forget the symptoms, and move on with my life without any worry of infecting my wife. Is it even possible that the symptoms that I am witnessing now 5 months post exposure possible? Does the anxiety go away?

Many physicians have the mistaken idea that Ureaplasma is an STI. this is incorrect.

I woud give my son th same advice and assement I gave you. EWH

Hi Sir,

Thank you for the reply.
I was given the impression that ureaplasma is an STD and that was had made me worry. I dont know if I was thorough enough, but the throat culture was done because of the white coating on the tongue. The doctor was alarmed when I met him. Could the dry mouth and white coating be do to anxiety? If I was your son, what would you tell him?

Welcome back to the Forum.  It troubles me that you are still worried about the low risk exposure you described back in September.  There was no indication you had HIV at that time and there is no reason to think that you do now.  I am not surprised at all to hear of your test results, Ureaplasma is normally found in the male urethra and candida is normally present in the mouth.  further, because they are normally present there, they are not eliminated with therapy.

All three of the HIV tests you mention are definitive proof that you did not get HIV from the exposure you have described.  Further testing related to that past exposure is a waste of time and money.

In answer to your specific questions:
1. What do u think i should do
Stop worrying about the exposure you have described.

2. Should I retest for anything.
Absolutely not.

3. Is the ureaplasma or the oral thrush a cause of concern for you?
None at all.  See above.

4. My symptoms of prolonged soar throat, bumps on my cheeks, pain in joints and neck relative to any std?
No!

5. I have a really bad case of tension headaches, and flashes of stabbing in my jaw line in my neck, does that worry you.
No, not in terms of HIV r any STI.  It does suggest that you may be overly anxious about the exposure you continue to worry about.

6. I want to move on with my life from your help, my marriage is falling apart, can I have unprotected sex with my wife?
Of course you can.  I told you could in September, why would I change my opinion now.

7. Did I dodge a bullet?
Obviously.
