PEP Seroconversion

It seems that there is conflicting information out there with respect to seroconversion and PEP treatment

Can anyone share the latest thoughts around PEP, seroconversion and testing

I am seeing that many doctors believe one would still seroconvert during PEP and could recieve the antibody test at conclusion of PEP and it would be fairly accurate

Thanks

A test at the end of PEP will not be accurate.  It's probably possible to test antibody positive after a PEP course.  This could happen if infection actually occurred and PEP fails to control the virus well.  If PEP is only effective at suppressing the virus but not at preventing infection (started to late?) you may not test antibody positive until enough virus is present to seroconvert.  There have been studies where people were started on treatment before seroconversion (PCR positive) and only became antibody positive after discontinuation of treatment.

After finishing PEP you should have a standard antibody test at 3 months, that is the current official answer.
