Further update

I've not posted on here for sometime now as I went away looking at what else could be causing the issues other than HIV, since which I have had several tests to no avail. I'm continuing to have tests so are due further test results this week and seeing my GP later today. I have also been for councilling and hypnotherapy to try and ensure I deal with the mental side, which the person treating told me about 3wks ago I didn't need to come back as I was alot more positive now etc...

I guess my concern is that I still have the night sweats, have now developed a rash in groin area and have white spots in throat either side where the tonsils are and my mouth has felt like I've had something piping hot and burnt it. When I over analysis these things I get to the stage where I think all of this started 6wks after the incident and has continued since with no real answers much to my frustration. My GP agrees that there seems to be something underlying given the glands, sore throats, night sweats, white spots at back of mouth and rash however they aren't a std expert and state to me that if I want views there I need to go back to GUM Clinic or seek alternative advice.

I'm wondering whether it is worth having another test as I had the initial HIV test, followed by two DUO tests (timings after the 28 days) and then another test just before the three months. I've read that there are cases where the imune system doesn't show anything until after 6mths and wondering whether it is worth getting another test despite most people telling me its conclusive already. I'm just getting frustrated that in six months despite so many tests my GP has no answers and it then keeps reverting me back to maybe I'm one of those rare cases as my symptoms are all imune type related.

Some view would be much appreciated as after the 3mth conclusive test I had sex with my wife once without protection on holiday when we had alot to drink and now keep thinking if I'm positive she will be and what will we do with two young kids?!

take it to the hiv anxiety community forum...a link is provided in the lower lefthand corner of this page.

your 3 month test PROVES that you dont have hiv, therefore this forum has nothing left to offer.

I completely understand and having been back to doctors today they have confirmed I have another throat infection and possibly thrush, also all my tests have come back fine from blood, urine and chest x-ray. They aren't in a position to comment on HIV and suggested I go to my local GUM Clinic again however having had a conclusive three month test from GUM Clinic I can see them turning me down.... So thinking about going private again having been twice previously for DUO tests at Freedom Health and Sameday Doctor (both very good by the way) however I'm so concerned that I can't presently raise the courage to go again...

Hi Am vije .. my exposer was 6 month before and I did my HIV test after 23 days which came -ve .. then after that I am nt have guts to go again for test .. nw I am getting panic ..

I still have sore-throt .. I showed to my gal.. i asked her is it look like sore throat ?? she said --its like extra skin near to your throat . Its nt painful .. Is sore throat ramains for so long time its more than 6 month after my exposer. am getting into panic situation  day by day :( :( :( ..  and also have small white spots like pimples under chick that I can feel by touching my toungh
sme one can put more picture on this please !
I dont want to die like that .. :( !

Thanks, I don't know what is wrong with me everyone is reassuring me yet I can't get to bottom of these symptoms all of which when I check places like here against symptoms come up with the same thing - which then takes me back to square one.

If my GP can give me a reason as to why I'm getting these symptoms that would help however in the meantime as I've read so much on this my mind just keeps going back to what if for some reason the tests didn't capture that fact that I'm positive. I know people will say I'm worrying too much as I keep telling myself that but then I end up thinking well what is wrong with me for 30yrs not had any of these things and then have a incident with a sexual worker 2-3 wks later things start happening out of the blue.

Anyway thanks for your post, I just don't understand the chances of it not being picked up within the 3mth and DUO test (although I had the 3mth at 84 days and the DUO test later than I should have - dont think this makes a difference), hence sometimes you read the 6mth is only conclusive hence thinking should I have another test again...

ppl who take longer than 3 month to develop antibodies are as follows
1- chronic iv drug users
2- on anti-rejection drugs following a transplant
3- on chemotherapy

i reckon your don fall in any of that 3 category..
so you have nothing to worry if you had a 3 mth negative test
