Still nervous

I had a low risk exposure.  Tested out to 6 months and got a non-reactive antibody result.  Great...until I read about transplant rejection drugs.  I have been using Elidel topically (for years) which is a close cousin of the anti rejection drug tacrolimus-used in transplant patients.  I know this is a topical preparation and probably wouldn't delay seroconversion, but somehow I still have a bit of doubt.  Any comments?

I call it low risk because I didn't know the other person's status.  Sorry if this isn't an accurate description.  I guess it was potential.

You had a low risk 'exposure' or suspected exposure? An exposure is when the other person actually has HIV or a syringe has HIV infected blood in it..

You're good to go either way..

Thanks, it's hard, but I finally believe the reuslts.  The mind is a very tricky  thing and with all the information available sometimes you have very irrational thoughts.  I am now finally able to accept the results!

I thought for sure I was positive.  I had tests done at 3,4,5,6 months post-cotact.  I never believed the results.  Even after I got my 6 month ELISA results I still had doubts because of the topical med I had been taking for over 3 years.  I doubted Dr HHH, Teak, and many others.  I have been a wreck for over 6 months.  Yesterday I took a final OraSure test and came back negative.  Your mind will play tricks on you.  Don't trust the symptoms, trust the results.  I'm 8 months out and finally able to trust the results.  Everyone on this forum has been very helpful and I appreciate all the education I have received  and you all were right.  I wish everyone the best and God Bless!!!

Thanks for your input, you're always very helpful.  I was just concerned about the length of time I've been taking Elidel topically.

The medication you are taking is not the same by any imagination to that of what people take for transplants.

Wait... so have you not read anything about transplant rejection drugs delaying seroconversion?

If not, this is a totally unwarranted fear.

ALSO, the only reason that some professionals recommend testing out to 6 months is for the very rare instance that seroconversion might be delayed by some outside factor such as the (possible) one that you've described. I've read nothing about a case where someone showed up + after more than 6 months. The possibility is never even mentioned.
