Sorry doctor but i dont have anything to say today except that my 350 day or 11.5 month test was NEGATIVE!!!!!!!! im laughing with enjoyment and almost shock today that im hiv free. You were completely right (of course). Thank you so much for your expert opinion and everything you do here.
Keep up the excellent work!
Based on test, not risk. With the standard HIV tests in current use, everybody with a new infection has a positive result by 3 months. Exceptions are extremely rare. Let it go. If you need more information than this, do your homework. As described in the Disclaimer message at the top of the forum, users are expected to look at other threads with similar questions before asking their own. I just tried entering "time to positive test" in this forum's search link and it identified almost 2,000 hits. "Window period" got almost 500.
That's all for this thread.
Sorry I actually left something.....I don't understand how a 3 month test and 11 month test is equally final. How could that be? Sorry for the addition.
Is it final based on my risk or would it make no difference for the highest risk? Lastly if it did rarely take up to 6 months in the past has it ever in medical history taken almost a year with older tests or was 6 months about it. No more questions...and no other exposures period
You had accurate responses on the HIV community forum so my replies are brief.
1,2) A 3 month test is 100% proof you weren't infected. Testing at 11+ months is wasteful of money, time and energy. It won't change, assuming you haven't had another exposure you haven't mentioned.
3) No effect. There are no medicines, illness, or diet that alter HIV test reliability, with the possible exceptions of terminal illness, advanced chemotherapy, and the like -- and even there the problem is theoretical more than real.
You have already had a "FINAL" HIV test result. The current one will be equally final but no more so.
