And why in heaven's name would you accept the recommendation of a "friend" about what HIV test to have (assuming the friend is not a health professional)??
You did not need HIV testing at all in this situation. If tested, it should have been an HIV antibody test, for probably one tenth the cost of PCR. But the negative PCR is conclusive. You don't have HIV.
That's all for this thread. No more comments will be accepted.
hey doc i just took the hiv pcr test it was recomended to me from a friend of mine the test results came back negative after 41 days and i just wanted to know if this was conclusive because now i am hearing the pcr test is not an accurate test to test for hiv and that i still need an antibody test. some advice on this topic would be appreciated so i can clear my head of this and focus on my finals coming up
Almost unheard of at age 18. But if you notice abnormal discharge from the penis (mucus, pus, etc), not associated with sexual arousal or ejaculation, it could be an STD like chlamydia -- so get it checked out.
That's all for this thread.
ok thanks just making sure because i thought i had a prostate infection or something of that sort thanks again
This doesn't sound like anything abnormal. Certainly no STD, incluidng HIV, causes changes in the appearance or timing of pre- or post-ejaculation fluids.
thank you for the advice, but their is one more symptom i forgot t say and this is ever since then everytime after ejaculation i have this clear sticky fluid kind of like precum only its after ejaculation and i am no longer able to pre *** before any idea what this is?
Welcome to the forum. But I have to assume you did not read the prominent "Disclaimer - Please Read Before Posting" or, if you did, you decided not to review the forum as it suggests for similar questinos.
You describe a low risk exposure by a partner who almost certainly does not have HIV. Your symptoms don't suggest new HIV infection or any other STD. HIV tests are highly reliable and yours was not falsely negative. Have another HIV test after 6 weeks have passed -- not because I believe you were infected (definitely you were not), but because you obviously need another negative result for psychological reassurance.
Read at least 20 other threads on the same topics before you return with any follow-up questions. If you just pick 20 at random, you'll probabaly find all the same questions and the detailed replies to them. Or use the search button and enter this like "HIV symptoms", "ARS symptoms", "time to positive HIV test", "seroconversion", "HIV transmission", and so on. Do not return with any further questions until you have done that.
And in the meantime, for goodness' sake stop searching the web about all this. You clearly have over-interpreted or misinterpreted most of what you have found. At least stick to professionally managed sites.
Bottom line: Mellow out. You don't have HIV and your life isn't over.
