Testing Questions

Hi, I have previously posted on here about my exposure. It was two minute unprotected vaginal sex with a heterosexual male, however I don't know if he uses drugs or his status or anything. I have been tested at 5 weeks post exposer, 7 weeks, and 10.5 weeks so far and all have came back negative.

However at my 7 week test I went to my local AIDS foundation and it just happened to be free testing day, so it was really crowded and hectic and rushed, and they girl who tested me just so happened to know me. They were just testing one person right after the other and it was the finger prick test. I didn't happen to see the girl testing me take the wrapper off of the new finger pricker, and I am scared with the rush they were in and the shock of her knowing me, that she forgot to give me a new one and used a previously used one on me. Is it possible that that happened and I could have gotten HIV from that? I have had joint pain and this burning sensation in my wrists/ up my arms for about a month now as well as a painful throat. If this is not possible, then is my 10.5 week test conclusive?

Thanks for your help.

Thank you both very much! I plan on going again in a few weeks for my 3 month final test. I'm still a little nervous, but you have made me feel a lot better!

the 10.5 week test is pretty conclusive, 12 weeks is considered for sure, however the average time it takes for antibodies to form is 25 days, which you are well past. I think you are negative.

Your 10.5 week test is very very very unlikely to change. You should still test at the 3 month mark to be sure.  Your symptoms have nothing to do with HIV.

The testing "Finger pricker" WAS NOT reused. But even if it was they are solid bore needles and would not transfer virus if reused due to the virus being inactive.

You have no worries and your test should not change
