Hey goingggcrazy,

Know you're in the same boat as me with diarrhea and an HIV test. You can get the HIV rapid test done at the Hassle Free Clinic in Toronto. It's located on 66 Gerrard Street if I'm not wrong. I think you have to book an appointment. They have on-site counseling as well, which really helps.

SO I don't know what I speak of?  The Hassle free clinic is in the heart of the street community in TO.  In the 80's it was known as the gay man's clinic.

Again, they use rapid tests here, just as I said originally, because the odds are high people who go there will not be found if they have to wait for results.

Why are you in such denial about the gay lifestyle and what happens in it?  The stats are clear.....it's not a gay bashing statement, just fact.....live andlet live but you are severely in the closet and really seem to struggle with your sexuality which explains the constant diversionary tactics you do.

You cannot get a rapid test in Canada at any STD clinic unless in health care or emergency siutations(hospitals).  Clinics do not give them, they use standard ELISA tests.  Oral swabs are taken for insurance purposes but are not instant.  They do use rapid testing for street missions though where odds(lol) are very high that they would not be able to find the same person again when they went back to give results if they used a standard blood test.

Canada uses antibody testing (ELISA), and they also use rapid testing. Both tests are realiable.

TO and Vancouver have much higher rates of hiv infection than the rest of Canada.  Vancouver's lower east side is a major location for this.  As i said, street missions have rapid tests.....or to clarify a bit more then, clinics in areas where hiv rates are high (highest in Canada as shown in the "stats").  TO and Vancouver have a much higher prevalence of iv drug use, prostitution, and much higher populations of gay males resulting in the higher numbers of infection as shown in the stats....yes teak...the stats.  But stats are not 100% accurate as we know.  Teak is a prime example of how people lie when they are diagnosed and say they were infected in a certain way when in fact they were infected in one of the most common ways.  So yes, stats are only as good as the persons word.

The rapid tests are available in Canada and have been for a few years, but they are not used near as much as they are in the US for Canada's reluctance to use them for fear of false positives that have happened in the past.  They use them in hospital settings and street missions as I said, as well as community mobile health units. I am sure they will become more available when a better baseline is established in the US.
