I wanted to thank you along with the others in the community forum for answering questions as to you must some times drive you nuts. I really do appreciate it as it is a an expert opinion on somethings you just don't want to visit your doc about. Take care and cheers.
It makes no difference. Move on with your life.
I am guessing your response does not change from not hearing back from you. Just wanted to confirm and I will move on with my life and end the thread. Thanks
It was actually day 19 when I got the upset stomach and GI issues, from your post above I don't think that it matters much anyways and I am quite sure your opinion doesn't change. Sorry for putting in the wrong time line, my mistake. Anyways, happy holidays.
It's usually 10-20 days, so 21 is on the borderline. But HIV doesn't cause "bad stomach cramps and diarrhea" nor does it cause symptoms that resolve in a day.
Hi Doctor, as mentioned above I do not believe my symptoms were from hiv as you mentioned. Actually, I had a pressure point massage the day before and it is in line with having to many toxins dumped and not drinking enough water (this can produce flu like symptoms). Anyways, I did want to ask when if symptoms apear,I thought it was 2-4 weeks but you stated they came to late. Just curious about this.
Thanks Dr. That is what I thought but of course getting sick at 3 weeks made me rethink it all. I thought that if there were initial symptoms they came at 2-4 weeks (just asking out of curiosity as I realize from your reply that my symptoms don't suggest). I will most likely pass on testing. Thanks fro your response and have a great day.
I agree with those who have told you the risk was zero and that no testing for HIV (or any other infection) is necessary. Your symptoms don't suggest HIV, and in any case came on too late to be due to HIV.
However, the "should I test?" question might depend on more than my assessment that there was no risk. People often need the assurance of a negative test result, in addition to reassurance from an expert. If that applies to you, feel free to have an HIV test around 6 weeks after the event. If you have had no other risks, you can be sure the result will be negative.
I recommend against testing for hepatitis B or C.
I hope this helps. Best wishes-- HHH, MD
