Trip to a beach

Hello,

I have irrational fears of HIV, but there is little I can do about it.

My new concern might sound silly, but please help me.

Recently I went to the beach and went swimming. While standing on the shore, I noticed sea weed or a root burried in the sand. I for some reason decided to brush my foot against it. It turned out to be solid and it cut my big toe. The weird part about the whole thing, when I came home and cleaned up the wound, it was clearly visible that what cut/punctured my toe was needle-like, because I see a fine blood like inside of my finger. SO basically something fine and sharp entered my toe when I brushed it against the root/sea weed thing.

I heard stories about medical waste washing up on the shores (I am in Illinois, US). Making me paranoid as hell. And recently I have been getting HSV-1 outbreaks on my face.

Please advise.
