hi Diver,
Thanks for your help.
Today my gf got her results after about 4 months of her last exposure and she got non-reactive. She however has autoimmune disease, would that affect the results by any chance?
Thanks again,
If her test was done after 3 months of her last exposure before you, she is conclusive negative and you have no reason to worry about.
Thanks for your response.
My partner got tested again on Dec 13th. If she gets non-reactive results again, should I still be worried? would I need to get tested?
Thanks again
An indeterminate WB and a Negative AB test, in my opinion means that you do not have infection.
The antigen on HIV that most commonly provokes an antibody response is the protein P24.
P24 antigen tests are not usually used for general HIV diagnostic purposes, as they have a very low sensitivity and they only work before antibodies are produced in the period immediately after HIV infection. They are now most often used as a component of 'fourth generation' tests.
If your partner did not get involve with anyone else during the past 3 months (counting from October 2011), except you, her test is conclusive and you have no reason to worry about, because you can not give something which you do not have.
However for your satisfaction and peace of mind, repeat your AB test at 3 months mark counting from your last exposure, get a conclusive report and throw all your worries away permanently
