Blood in saliva does not transmit HIV no matter where it lands on you including your eye. You do not have a risk of HIV from that type of thing. The CDC does not think that is a risk either! I did not know that the CDC took phone calls. But in general, you would have been misinformed. Saliva renders HIV inactive with the enzymes in it. No one has gotten HIV from someone spitting (with blood or not) into their eye. So, please stop worrying about this. It was not an exposure to HIV. Best
Hi everyone,I have a query o the saliva with possible specks of blood spit into eye risk whereby I called CDC yesterday and a lady who picked up my call told me that from the info they have at CDC is that there is a possible risk if there the saliva was tainted with blood.
Hi Ruby,I had posted this qstn on the forum before I sent u the PM bcoz I saw there was a delay in being answered. Anyway,I appreciate both urs and malbats info. Thanks once again.
I already answered this question when you sent me a private message. And I also answered your question about getting spit in your eye and another question just a few minutes ago about possible blood in that spit. I hope and trust you feel relieved now that you've verified the information I gave you.
Hi Malbat..Thanks for the response but I have one last question on the body fluids being out of the body; The saliva that got into my eye had no time to be exposed to the environment it just flew from his mouth to my eye,so my qstn is if it had specks of blood in it doesn't this stil constitute a risk as this is direct/immediate exchange of body fluid from him to me?
Thanks and appreciate you taking the time to answer all questions. All the best
A rule that you have to hold on to: Any bodily fluid, I mean ANY, ONCE its outside the body, is not infectious anymore and CANNOT infect you. No 'what ifs' and no 'buts'. You don't get infected in the manner you describe. You had no risk and its best you get a grip on your anxiety before it gets out of hand.
Hi guys, can someone please help me on the questions above that I've asked about my risks?
