There is no association between your G6PD and your risk of getting HIV. No relationship of any sort. EWH
Welcome to our Forum. Your decision to have sex with this commercial sex worker without protection was not a wise decision but it is still unlikely that you acquired HIV from this exposure. As you know commercial sex workers and drug users have higher than average rates of HIV infection. Even so. most CSWs do not have HIV. furthermore, even if she did, your risk of HIV is only 1 infection for every 1,00o sexual exposures, thus the chances are good that you did not get HIV from this exposure. You should get tested. A DUO (Combined HIV p24 antigen/HIV antibody) test performed at 4 weeks following your exposure will give you definitive information on whether or not you got infected through this exposure.
I hope this comment is helpful to you. Please used condoms in the future. EWH
A related discussion,
Tested for HIV was started.
Dear Dr. Hook,

Dear Doc.,
Just 1 more thing that I forgot to tell previsously.
I am a G6PD deficient person, it was diagnosed about 10 yrs back when I had acute jaundice.
Pls do tell that can G6PD & HIV be related to each other in any sense ?
Does presense of G6PD Deficiency affect/influence the chances to get HIV in an act like mine ?
Thankful to you for all the help !
Dear Dr. Hook,
I am sorry for any stupidity as I am out of my mind with stress as it is with any person who knows he has exposed himself to such a condition.
Noted that you had considered all the facts.
Many thanks for your help.
I'll take precautions.
These are rather silly questions. Of course I considered the details you provided. Did you think I did not read your questions.
Your risk is low but if you have concerns you should take precautions until you have been tested. You need to be the judge of this but the safest course of action is for you to take precautions.
Your abdominal stress is not a manifestation of HIV.
You need to figure out what to do about your stress., It is more likely to be due to your guilt than any real risk. EWH
Dear Dr. Hook,
Many thanks for the response.
The comment is indeed helpful to me.
I m sorry to seek further clarification on this, but I think I really need to know the below things.
Did the figure of 1/1000 is after considering the facts & details I mentioned or it is general data ? (like nationality of partners, condition during intercourse, etc)
Do I need to take any precautions till the window period is over ?
Can you suggest something that can relieve me of the stress and anxiety that's building up because of this ?
I do have very slight pain intermittently in the abdomen/grion area. Has it got any connection to this exposure ?
Thanking you again for the advise.
