There was no need for additonal testng before, and there is none now. I encourage you to stop worrying about STDs, including HIV. No further testing is needed. EWH
Sorry to bother you again doc. I took a 6 week HIV/Syphilis test today-negative . Mainly went for the syphilis test but took the HIV out of impulse. I am healthy and symptom free and do not take any meds and did not have any symptom for any STD. So now I am clear for all STDs (incl HIV) and leave this incident behind me? Your golden words helped me out of stress the past few weeks. Thank you very much.
Thank you doctor for your firm opinion. This has really eased my mind and anxiety. This was of great help. I can now move on with my normal life.
personally, I see no medical need for additonal testing. EWH
Thank you doctor. This was really helpful. So do you recommend further testing based on the exposure?
Welcome to the Forum. I'll be happy to comment. It is unlikely that your partner had HIV- most commercial sex workers do not. Even if she did, this exposure did not put you at risk for HIV. HIV is not spread by frottage, even if your partner's genital secretions got on you during the activity. Similarly, there is no meaningful risk of getting HIV from receipt of oral sex. The quoted figure for HIV risk, if one has oral sex with an infected partner is less than 1 in 10,000 and, in my estimation that is too high. Some experts state there is no risk at all from oral sex.
Your test at 3 weeks after the experience would have been expected to detect over 75-80% of recent HIV infections but not all. Thus the doctor who advise you is correct. HIV blood tests are not definitive until 8 weeks after the exposure.
I urge you not to worry about HIV form the activities you describe. EWH
This insertive oral sex was unprotected (without condom).
