Unprotected vaginal sex in Nigeria

Hi. Last night I had unprotected sex with an Nigerian lady in Lagos Nigeria. It was unprotected vaginal sex. What are the risks of transmission. Should I start PEP. I might be able to get the girl tested as have her friends number. Her friend says there both fine and have been tested. Any advice would be greatful. Thanks

The PEP costs too much money. That's made the decision for me. I will test a 4 weeks and 3 months. As much as can be is in my favour. That'll have to do.

There's no use in using statistics because anything is possible.

I should get PEP? Even though she tested? I know it's my health and something a want to keep. I don't want to be the one statistic (1 time sex infected). I don't know what to do. Is PEP 100% reliable to work. Will be between 48 and 72 hrs if I can afford the drugs. I just want to know rough statistics of my risk

Truthfully, your test is the one that matters. She could be in the window period. It's your job to take care of your health.

Thank you. She got tested today and came back negative. In 2 minds as to PEP or not. Not got long to decide on the matter. It puts the odds greater in my favour her testing negative.

Probably your best bet. Don't worry the chances of getting infected by one encounter are in your favor. Try one of the main hospitals in Lagos for PEP availability.

In my opinion if I was you and was in Nigeria and was exposed within 72 hours I would start PEP based on the extremely high HIV rate. Not to scare you but I had a friend in the military who got HIV from his girlfriend in Lagos. He was then medically discharged.

There are high rates of HIV in Nigeria. You had a risk test at 4-6 weeks and then at 12 weeks
