I need some comfort from the good Doctors here

Dear Sirs,

16 months ago I had a risky encounter. Unprotected vaginal sex.

One week ago I took 4 oraquick home tests and received negative results. Not content (due to the possibility of false-negatives) I took an Oraquick advance test at a clinic, and again received a negative result.

I am now married and wished to be ultra sure, so I submitted myself to a blood test yesterday, and the mean-time, between now and receiving the result is killing me. I love my wife dearly. I am living on tenterhooks waiting to get the result from the lab. Is there any chance the blood test will reveal a positive after 5 negative Oraquick results?

I have read almost every word you have written on this site with regard to Oraquick. I know that the information on accuracy seems to fluctuate over the years. May I relax about my blood result? Or...

After the five oraquick negatives would you have told me I was conclusively, absolutely negative?

With my gratitude for your help....

        Yours.

Please, please believe your test results and stop testing.  HIV tests, including the OraQuick tests are amongst the most reliable tests in all of medicine and testing repeatedly as you are doing will not change the result.  Remembmer, it was Einstein who said "one definition of insanity is to do the same thing again and again and expect different results."  Your laboratory HIV test, like the tests you've already had, will be negative.  EWH
