What is my risk?

Hi Teak, Lizzie and other experts

Just went to the HIV test centre today to  check on my blood result. Thank God it came back negative. While leaving

the centre, i crushed the piece of paper that was given to me during the registration. Not realising that there is a paper

clip on it, i pressed it so hard that the sharp edges of the paper poked into my finger. Little bits of blood flow out. Under

such condition, will i contact the hiv virus. Please help to ease my worry. Thank......

Thanks teak, you have again come to my rescued. Lastly, if there is really blood on the
paperclip. Is half an hour time sufficient for the virus to be killed in air.

I am sorry for guessing the person who had registered me to have a cut earlier. What if there is a cut by him and he touches that paperclip and half an hour later i got poked by this clip. Will i still get the hiv virus into my bloodstream through the poke.

First off there was no blood on it from the checkout person. 2nd HIV is not transmitted by environmental surfaces.

Not long at all, plus you would need an excessive amount of blood for even a small risk. You had zero risk.
Time to move on.

I know the mind can be a very powerful weapon at time. Not to be rude, i think i worry too much. By the way how long will the hiv virus survive in the open supposed that the paper clip does had blood on it.Thanks.

Teak please help in easing my worry on the question post. Will there be risk if the person
who register had a cut earlier and he touches the paper clip which had his blood on it. Half an hour later i got poked on the same paper clip. Will the hiv virus be dead by the time i poke my finger. thank you very much. Waiting for your reply.

I am sorry, i guess fear had crept into me. At that moment what came into my mind was the fear that the person who register me in the test centre had a cut earlier. And there might be some blood on the paper clip and i happened to poke my finger with it. I bet my mind is working on the assumption.

You need to see a therapist. Why would you think you would get HIV from a cut from a paper clip or piece of paper?
