Won the Jackpot?

One off oral (receiving) encounter spanishSW. Frenulum sore due to rubbing,no visible lesions. Applied detol crm &savlon to keep clean. Day 5 Burning, salt water for 2 days OK, continued to hurt when urinating until 5.5 weeks took Clamydia tabs (although tested -ve for ghonorhea & Clamydia). Leaks urine on/off.
Day 7 Tingling in lips that became a consistent burn lasting on/off over next 10 weeks. Developed sore throat roughly 3 weeks. At 5 wks exactly excrutiating burning pain in mouth after 1 Difflam lozenge (had 3 day prior). One deep lesion (presumably from burn) that did heal.Rinsed salt water. Tongue now has small cracks, dry mouth since and sharp pain and redness under tongue that comes and goes (now at 11 weeks)-Salty/mild spice will burn mouth/gums/tongue and roof of mouth becomes more dry. 1 course of antifungal lozenges helped 5%. Dentist check OK. 7.5 wks antibiotics for throat. 8 wks-very dizzy feeling, tingling in arms and legs lasted 1-2hrs. Generally fatigued since and dizzy spells. Little sleeping, sugar fixes help relieve dizziness. Very mild/occasional headache/ temp Mild pain in penis returns. 9 weeks (day 63) HSV1 & 2 -ve, HIV -ve, B12, Iron, Sugar, Cholestoral normal 9.5 weeks prescribed Endep 10 for mouth pain (took 3 nites), burning in penis returns for two days but recedes with salt water and 5 paracetamol in 6 hours - developed itchiness over torso which subsided fairly rapidly (I  stopped using the Endep and cut back on the paracetamol).10.5 weeks prescribed Temaze to assist sleep. Itchiness to Torso, lower arms has returned, very slight redness in parts. Also bright blood red ring under eyes when pull bottom eyelid down. Now at 11 weeks, Dr is testing for autoimmune, another HIV / HSV at 12 weeks. Should I be concerned given the burning under my tongue (which comes and goes), small cracks in tongue which are persistent, the itchy torso, the general fatigue and dizziness. Needless to say I sleep sparingly for some time. Any suggestions

This information does not change my opinion or advice.  Your medicines cannot alter the reliability or timing of HIV tests.

You came here for reassuarnce and I gave it, in very definite terms.  Please re-read my reply above and see your health care provider to work on the non-HIV cause of your symptoms.

Thanks again for your time doc.
You predicted right Doc! Negative at 12 weeks (day 84).

I've since had a rheumatologist appointment, fortunately he didn't find any autoimmune problems - his only suggestion was another HIV test at 6 months. I'm hoping he thinks I can't count because I'm dead certain of dates.

I thought nothing of it earlier but I had been taking Flixotide 125mcg 1xdaily for about 2 months prior - I stopped this once I developed mouth problems. I also take pariet (rabprazole) 20mg x2 per day (7yrs). I wouldn't have thought this would be like immune system cancer suppressing medication by any stretch??!

While you don't need a blow by blow of negative results and symptoms I am experiencing serious photosensitivity (I burn through my clothes and my vision is seriously impaired in sunlight). I'm telling myself this is due to the 3 x endep 10 I took with the pariet?? While my back and forehead are always hot, my temp seems fairly constant 36.3-37.3 degrees. Since day 98, I've had extremely sore/swollen under arms, swollen neck with two swollen nodes under the jaw, and soreness on one side of my groin. My gut has been seriously churning for a week or so. I know this is way late for ARS, so I'm telling myself this is just a bad flu that never ever ends!?

Cheers Doc.

"Hopefully all this means nothing."  With respect to HIV, that's exactly what it means.  Please don't post any more comments until you return one last time to tell us the result of your negative 12 week test result.

Hi Doc
Thanks for your responses earlier. Waiting on my 12 wk test results-I wont post again till I get my result. Im 36, and was in perfect health. Never been so sick as the last 3.5 weeks.
Just a note to the above: My frenulum was sore from the night prior and now gets recurring pain. Had a real burning redness and pain here and in Euretha at day 5.
My Rheumatoid Factor is 79 (normal 1-14) at 10.5 weeks but with normal ANA and ESR.
Start wk 12 (Day77)- Back was completely red, was itchy and burned, redness lasting 1 day. I had been sensitive in the sun few days earlier but thought nothing of it. Now very sensitive.
Day 79 Burning under skin on forearms, back, left leg, foot. Recurs with sharp pains.
Day 80 Both Lymph nodes on neck very swollen for couple of hours, one receded while the other is still noticable. Asleep 1hr woke up with both feet from lower leg down an both hands tingling - now just tingling in fingers and feet.
Other: Occasional redness in Knuckles.  Constantly burping and have gas. My Bowel movements very firm/spongy and more difficult than usual for 11 wks. Heat type rash on neck.
Still feeling dizzy and sick. Hopefully all this means nothing.

Welcome to the forum.  I'll try to help.

But you could have helped yourself by following the advice in the Disclaimer message about reading the forum for questions similar to yours.  One of the most common and consistent kinds of advice is that symptoms almost never are useful in deciding whether or not someone might have a new HIV infection.  The blood test results ALWAYS are more reliable.  Your negative HIV test at 9 weeks proves you did not catch HIV and that something else is causing your symptoms.  This would be true even if you described 100% typical ARS symptoms (which you do not have).  You also would have seen that receiving oral sex is virtually zero risk for HIV.  Some experts believe such transmission never occurs; and one calculation (by CDC) suggests a risk around 1 in 20,000, which is the equivalent of receiving oral sex by HIV infected persons once daily for 55 years!

Continue to work with your doctor about the actual cause of your symptoms. But you can forget HIV.  It's not an issue here.

Good luck--  HHH, MD
