Worry about my situtation

Hi Doc,

I am sorry this is my 2nd post on this forum. I am so much worry about my situation. I had sex with a sex worker she gave me protected oral and protected vagina sex. but now I am having a pain in my neck and when I touch my neck I feel lymph nodes and pain on my left neck and also have sore throat. My exposure was happened on 13th august and on  24th Sep (6th week) I had HIV 1 & 2 antibody blood (self kit test) which was negative and second same test on 1 oct (7th week) which was also negative. I cant understand why I am having pain on my neck, sore throat and lymph nodes on neck. I am always thinking about that while working, while sleeping all the time. Should I trust on these tests and forget about all? or do I need any further testing? I actually can continue unprotected sex with my wife without any fear?
Please help me,, Thanks

We don't ask very much of users, but I do expect you to read my replies.  Whatis not clear about "The duo test is always conclusive at 28 days or more after the last possible exposure to HIV"?  That means that you can rely on the test regardless of any symptoms you may have.  If they were due to HIV, the test would have been positive.

That's the end of this thread.  I won't have any more advice.

The duo test is always conclusive at 28 days or more after the last possible exposure to HIV.  That's why I said there is no need for additional testing.

Welcome.  Actually, this appears to be your first question on this forum.  You previously asked teh same question on the HIV prevention community forum.  If you in fact have a previous thread on this forum, perhaps it was with a different username.  If so, please copy the URL of that discussion and paste into a comment on this one.

I'm happy to confirm the good news you had on the community forum:  you were not at risk for HIV from the exposure described, and your negative test results show you were not infected.

One of the most common themes on this forum is that HIV is not transmitted sexually wihtout insertive sex:  if a bare penis (no condom) does not enter another person's vagina or rectum (and maybe mouth, but extremely rarely), there is no risk.  And condoms work.  Thus, your exposure a few weeks ago was risk free.  (In addition, it is statistically unlikely your partner had HIV anyway.)

Another theme is that HIV testing always overrules symptoms and exposure history.  Some of your symptoms in theory could occur with a new HIV infection but your negative test results are proof against it.  Everybody with symptoms of HIV for more than a few days has detectable antibody.

So no worries, no need for further testing, and if you have a regular sex partner, you can safely continue unprotected sex without transmitting HIV.  If your various symptoms continue, see a doctor.  But you can definitely stop worrying about HIV.

I hope this has helped.  Best wishes--  HHH, MD
