blood draw safety

byz
I went to a local urgent care facility in Florida and the Doctor ordered a blood test. I did not see the nurse use a fresh needle. Is it safe to get a blood draw, are standard precautions always used . is it possible to reuse a contaminated needle by accident to draw blood. the nurse seemed to proficient but she was harried and preoccupied. Could you please allay my fears on this one. Any risk of hiv infection. My fault for not paying attention

There is no reason to believe that a fresh needle was not used. To assume a medical professional would not follow proper disposal procedures after every patient is very disrespectful of people who do that for a living. I suggest you find something more realistic to fear instead of this.

You can't catch HIV from a blood draw: it's 2012.
