Ofcourse they do , otherwise all of us would be HIV positive.I had anal sex unprotected for like 20 secs, tested after 7 months thrice all negative. So im sure hiv negative.
6 months is over conclusive provided u test for IGe and that is also normal.Because in the rarest of cases a person maynot produce any antibodies to hiv if they have that rare dna related thing so then they would need to test for IGe levels if thats normal ur hiv test at 3 months is conclusive.I did that to be extra sure and now i am fine thanks to g-d grace i was very anxios.
A CBC count if normal would be another confirmatory although CMIA test and immunochromatography is the test for hiv, nothing better than that.PCR is useless if u have a negative elisa or rapid test.

reg your risk, highly unlikely to catch the virus under such short exposure even if she was positive, but u may want to test which is a good thing to do.the elisa is the Gold standard test since the time the hiv virus appeared on the scene.in this there are several wells and its a pooled test where the lab may require several clients blood samples to begin with.hence you may get result the following day. The rapid test is one per person and there are several rapid kits approved by fda, Just a single fda approved rapid test will do,results in few min.

a rapid test is fine at any stage, results dont change 1 year or 10 years assuming its  based on the particular  risk you just posted and no any other risk.
