scared about HIV

I had receptive anal sex with a csw. There was a condom used.

4 weeks after I have had watery stool no desire to eat and very sick to my stomach. Also a node or gland under my jaw was sore and bigger for two days. 5th week bad cold and congestion.

My question is would I have known if the condom broke and if it did can the symtoms with exception to the cold in the 4th week be the only symtoms of hiv infection. I never had these symtoms for this length of time in my life.

I did a home HIV-1 test but won't have the results until Monday.

I don't attribute these sytoms to stress as I didn't think HIV until I had them a while

no fever or rash. sore throat in the 5th week for one day as sinus congestion moved from nose to chest.

please respond

Your symptoms are both non-specific and not typical of recently acquired HIV.  You have no reason for concern.  EWH

Thank you so much Doc, So what you are saying is that my symtoms would be more typical as symtoms with the fever and rash and not likely to be stand alone?

Sorry for the second question but just been scared

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll be pleased to address your concerns. The short version of my response is that there you have no need to be concerned.  Your exposure was a no risk exposure.  Condom protected sex is safe sex with no risk for HIV.  Further, you can be confident that your condom worked. When condoms fail, they break wide open leaving no doubt that the condom has failed.

As for your symptoms, while loose stools may occur as PART of the symptoms which sometimes occur when someone has recently acquired HIV, these symptoms, which include fever, rash, sore throat and muscle aches tend to occur at the same time.  Further, single swollen gland under your jaw, particularly when you have a cold is not suggestive of HIV.

I urge you not to worry.  When your test results are back, I am confident that they will show that you did not get HIV.  When you get your negative test result, there will be no need for further testing.  EWH
