anal exposure

dear doctor,
I am a homosexual guy and i have always practised protected anal sex whether receiving or giving.
BUT MY PARTERS HAVE BEEN RUBBING THEIR PENIS WITH EJACULATION (SEMEN) ON MY ANAL OPENING WITOUT CONDOM BUT NO PENETRATION.
MY QUESTION IS REGARDING FROTTAGE WHICH IS THE EXPOSURE I HAD.

1) is anal opening or skin around anal opening a mucous membrane?
2) if not then  is there a difference between the normal skin and anal opening skin?
3) is semen exposure or blood exposure on anal opening a risk without penetration?
4)do i need testing for practising unprotected frottage (no penetration) last test i had 6 months back for my insurance policy(negative) in thailand

your answers would be highly appreciated

thanks and regards
akr

These will be your last answerrs, you are beginning to repeat yourself:

1.  Yes still no risk from blood contact with your anus without penetration.
2.  No risk.

Dear doctor,

I AM POSTING FOR THE FIRST TIME AND I DONT KNOW HOW MANY QUESTIONS ARE ALLOWED FOR 20$

ONE LAST QUESTION :

1) AS I KNOW FROTTAGE IS NOT A RISK WITH CUTS OR WOUNDS ON THE ANAL OPENING WITH SEMEN CONTACT ...IS IT NO RISK EVEN WITH THE BLOOD CONTACT ON ANAL OPENING (OF COURSE WITHOUT PENETRATION) ?

AS FEW MONTHS BACK ONE OF MY PARTERS BLED a lot FROM HIS PENIS (ruptured) DURING FROTTAGE  AND I MIGHT HAVE CUTS ON MY ANUS OPENING THAT DAY.

2) WHAT IS THE RISK OF PENILE PARTNER DURING FROTTAGE? I GUESS AND HOPE NO RISK...:)

I SHALL TAKE A TEST SOON...

THANKS A LOT DOC,
TAKE CARE

AKRAM

dear doc,
thanks for the reply..
i dont think i got penetrated without condom ever with any of my partners  as far as i remember neither did i ever penetrated anybody..

1) AS YOU ALREADY TOLD ME TRUE FROTTAGE IS NOT A RISK BUT IF THERE IS A FRESH WOUND,CRACK OR CUT ON THE ANAL OPENING AND SKIN AROUND IT DOES IT POSE A RISK AS FROTTAGE IS WITH SEMEN EJACULATION,PRECUM AND POSSIBLE BLOOD?

2)IS THERE ANY CHANCE THAT WITHOUT PENETRATION SEMEN,PRECUM OR BLOOD COULD GET INTO THE ANUS HOLE AND REACH THE MUCUOUS MEMBRANE?

3)HOW DEEP FROM THE ANAL OPENING IS THE RECTAL MUCOSA OR THE MUCUOUS MEMBRANE?

I SHALL DEFINATELY GET TESTED AS I HAD MULTIPLE PARTNERS AND WOULD TRY TO USE CONDOM EVEN FOR FROTTAGE..

THANKS A LOT DOCTOR AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU...

AKRAM...

Welcome to the Forum.  I'll be pleased to address your questions but in doing so I need to also point out that, as you probably know, anal frottage can occasionally lead to penetration if your partner does not share your commitment to safe sex. Please be careful.

As for your specific questions:
1.  No the external portion of the anus is not mucous membrane but is the same sort of epithelial (skin surface) as other surface skin.  The rectal mucosal is truly interanl and requires penetration to reach.
2.  See above.
3.  No, other than the caution that I mentioned above.  True frottage is not a risk.
4.  Testing is a personal decision. the activity you describe is safe sex and does not require testing.  On the other hand, you seem to describe unprotected sex with multiple partners.  Thus you qualify for periodic HIV/STD "screening (testing in the absence of symptoms) because you have had multiple partners over a period of less than a year.  As a matter of personal protection, we recommend annual testing for anyone who has had two or more sex partners in the past year (we consider this to be health maintenance- we also recommend you get your blood pressure and cholesterol checked regularly).

I hope this comment is helpful.  EWH
