HIV Anxiety

Hi Doctor,

I had a sex with a call girl in Massage Parlour in NZ. Here Massage Parlours offer safe sex. So I had a varginal protected sex with a girl. She put condom , gave some blow job and had sex for few min. Then I cum inside the condom. She moved away from my body. Removed the condom, cleaned it and then i left from the place. We had also not any oral kisses at all during that . . .

So after that I am much worried about the STD i.e. chlamydia, HIV etc which I can get from this single encounter. I also dont know about the STD status of girl. Now 11 days have paased since the first encounter. I am going to have chlamydia test on this Thursday. For last 3-4 days, it feels to me that something is going to discharge form my penis but nothing has discharged. I think this is just a feeling.

So I will like to ask you few questions:

1) What are chances of geeting any STD's ?
2) I have been told by NZAID to come after 4 weeks for HIV Testing. They check for antibodies in blood. How much this test is relaible?

          http://www.nzaf.org.nz/our-services/item/get-tested-for-hiv-and-stis

3) At 6 week, I will have complete blood test for all possible check such as Hep A, B , HIV etc. So If i get -ve at this point it means that everything will be fine . . .?

Please guide me regarding these questions. I am much wooried these days. . . .

Welcome to our Forum.  The exposure you describe, condom protected vaginal and oral sex was safe sex.  The condom did not break.  This is, as advertised, safe sex which did not put you at risk for HIV.. gonorrhea, chlamydia or other STDs.

While I am not familiar with the circumstances which occur in New Zealand, in many such establishments the women are checked regularly for STDs and HIV and this is part of the reason that they say sex available through them is safe.  Most women do not have infection as a result of both their regular checking and the regular use of condoms.  Even if she was infected, by using a condom your exposure was safe.  From a medical perspective there is probably no reason to need testing.  On the other hand, for your peace of mind, I understand why you wish to be tested.  Believe the results when you get them.

As far as your symptoms are concerned, the sort of penile discomfort you describe is likely are result of your increased attention to the possibility that you might have a discharge.  Often after an exposure that, in retrospect, one wishes they had not had, persons tend to examine themselves and be far more attuned to genital sensations than in periods when they are not concerned.  This in turn leads to noticing what turn out to be normal sensations that might have been not noticed or ignored at other times.  I suspect this was a contributor to your situation.  If not, your scheduled testing will clarify this.

Finally, according to the web site you describe, your will be tested using a standard antibody test.  If this is the case, at 4 weeks the test would detect over 90% of infections acquired 4 weeks earlier.  In your case, given the very, very low risk of HIV to start with, a 4 week result will be very strong evidence that you do not need HIV.  further testing at 8 weeks or beyond would be required to be completely sure but, in your situation, you can be confident that testing at 4 weeks will give you the same result that testing at 8 weeks.

I hope these comments are helpful.  EWH

Hi doc,

Good news. I went for HIV and Syphilis test yesterday. Results came back negative. She told me that device checks for antibodies in your blood. And if you have HIV then it would have shown now. She told me not to worry anymore as normally CSW are normally regulalry checked. So move on with your life.

However after 6 weeks I will go for blood test for hep etc checkups. I hope results will remain negative. So now i should be relaxed . . .

WIll be waiting for your kind reply. Once again thanks for all your kind advises till now...

Hi Doc,

Sorry for disturbing u. I am going to have HIV test tomorrow. Hoping for the best. From last Thu, I had caught with Flu. Did not take rest on weekend as well as went on outing. Today I went for checkup as it had lasted long. I also did not take any medication. I started taking some antibiotic from this week.

Nurse told me that ur body temperature is about 98F and u have caught cold i.e. viral flue. Just take rest and have some fluids. It happens this time when there is weather change. I hope this is not a symptom of ARS?? I am again quite worried . . . .

Will be waiting for ur kind reply.
