Well, THAT is the problem, peter. There, unfortunately are a LOT of misconceptions out there about HIV...and a lot of uneducated, naive, ignorant people. There is a lot of misinformation. HIV is a disease tha one can only study subjectively in many ways. For instance...risk factors and causes. Until many of the studies that we often cite were done...the medical community had to rely solely on a person's WORD as to how they got infected. Hence, why there is still misinformation. Of course there were people who lied about the manner in which they contracted HIV. Now there are FACTS. People need to know what the FACTS are.
I work with a LOT of people (professionals, health care workers) who still think they can get HIV if they shared the same glass, heck...some even think if they BREATHE the same air. This is why the whole HIV education system and outlook needs to be re-vamped and changed to reflect REALITY, not scare tactics.
