infected hospital equipment

i have read an article stating how some people may have been exposed to the hiv virus (and hepatitis) because the hospital didnt use the proper sterilization on colonoscopy equipment.  and another similar article that stated those that underwent ear, nose, and throat treatments were exposed too.  how likely is someone to catch the hiv virus from a situation like this?  even on a re-used blood draw needle (which i know they use new ones, i am just saying IF it happened) how likely can one actually get the virus from this too?  thanks for any help.

You are absolutely right they pose a serious threat to the general populace. In India in the current month 40persons died as they contracted HBV bcoz of infected needles.
The only way to ensure your safety is by using disposable syringes
Proper sterilization of any medical equipment used in common among patients.

Please be vigilant THIS IS THE ONLY WAY OUT Stop others from making a fast buck by unethical means against the principles of the medical profession.
The principles of the grand medical profession has to be upheld at all costs becoz of a few rotten apples the contributions of hon docs nurses and medicos should not be overshadowed. Educate others and educate yourself.
