Dear Doctor , thank you for taking the time to answer my question. I am a 34 year old woman who has had an HIV phobia since I was in my mid teens. I thought it would have gotten better by now but it hasn't.
RECCENT SITUATION:
On May 6, 2014 I was taking to a guy ( whom I thought was my friend) .As I turned to say something to him I was surprised by an open mouth kiss from him. I pushed him away as fast as I could but since the kiss took me by surprise he did have time to stick his tongue in my mouth and fluids did get exchanged for a short time ( 1-2 seconds). I immediately thought of HIV and checked his lower gums for any signs of bleeding. I saw none. I ran to the bathroom to washout my mouth with water.
Two days after, my lower lip began bleeding a little and this got me thinking more about HIV infection. I ran to his room and demanded he show me his last HIV test. Turns out, he had done a test on January10, 2014 and the results were negative.
But I still wasn’t at ease. I got frequent nightmares and body pains( but I usually get these every time i have a panic attack). For a month after the kiss incident I closely monitored my body for any initial HIV infection signs. I saw none. But recently on June 18, 2014 I got a stomach bug. I ate some food and then got serious stomach pains and diarrhea plus body pains. This lasted for a few days. I once again began to attribute this to HIV. Now I am a nervous wreck.
Dear doctor, could the kiss situation I described above have transmitted HIV to me( IF the guy did get HIV infection within the 6 month untested period)?
And IF he did pass on HIV to me, could it have suppressed my immune system in such a short space of time ( 5-6 weeks) to allow my stomach to turn against me?
I normally have stomach issues ( I think I have Irritable bowel syndrome) but it has never given me such severe tummy pain and body pain. So I don’t know whether to think its HIV or just another tummy issue. My emotions are saying its HIV but these are not normally HIV symptoms.
