HIV is a scary thing, which I believe would make anyone who does not have it panic. You are in the medical profession, you would remember a needle stick. Holding the syringe is not going to give you any thing. If I were you I would go get tested and continue due to your job. Every six months.
I agree with Crez, you never supposed to recap the needle. Im sure you've been told that when you were training. It does put you at potential needle stick injury.
As long as you didnt prick your self then you're ok.
Why would you recap the needle. You are to never recap a used needle. If you do that you are exposing yourself to a potential needlestick. NEVER recap a needle.
If you are working in a clinical environment you should be using universal precautions. However nothing what you have posted would have put you at risk for contracting HIV disease. Nothing.
