ok... im ready to tell the truth :(

Hi I'm a 23 year old male...

I asked on here a week or so ago if I was at real risk of HIV for having 2 occasions of unprotected sex...

What I didn't mention was that these 2 occasions were with asian escorts, in California.

Basically, twice in the past year, maybe year and a half now? I had 2 different occasions with different girls. Both times started with unprotected oral, and then unprotected 69, and then unprotected sex.

I really don't know WHAT I was thinking so please don't harass that decision... What I need to know is this. I asked both these girls, "are you clean?" They both said yes at the time. One even said she had just got tested (I didn't ask to see any proof).

What I need to know is this... I've been insanely worried sick over all of this lately... I don't know what I was doing or thinking... it's like I was living in a bubble or something... now I've woken up though!

I haven't really had any symptoms. My most recent occurence of unprotected sex was back on June 5th. Since then about 2 weeks after I got a minor head cold (no sore throat, lots of runny nose, itchy nose/sinus problems).

I haven't had any ARS symptoms pretty much at all (I haven't thrown up in a long time, nor have I had the stomach flu... I do get colds a few times a year though).

I have, either a yeast infection, or Balanitis on my penis glans. I read somewhere that yeast infection can be a sign of living with HIV. But I also have an uncircumcised penis and have had this whiteness on the tip of my penis for a while now.

I also have had some dry skin on my penis. I think it's chaffing from masturbating too much (3-4 times a day). What happens is 1 part of the skin gets really dry and peels away like dry skin you get from a sunburn almost. After that, there is no blister or ulcer, but the skin beneath is irritated for a couple days until new skin grows over. I've had this twice in the past month.

I have read that Balanitis can cause all kinds of weird skin issuse with the foreskin of the penis (these dry skin peelings have been on the bottom side of my foreskin), so I am thinking that is what is probably going on down there. I suffer from Phimosis I believe, as I am not able to retract my foreskin to urinate, because it causes my urine to be EXTREMELY inaccurate, plus it's painful to retract it, it's way too tight. I hear Phimosis and Balanitis go hand in hand... so I am not extremely worried there. I am slightly worried I may have HSV-2, but everything I have read, if I had an outbreak, I would know it. I don't think these dry skin issues have been HSV-2 outbreaks. (I have HSV-1 since I was a little kid and it's nothing like what I am getting on my penis).

Ok... sorry for the long message, as you can see I am worried.

I am coming up on 4 weeks now.... I have insurance and a family doctor, but I am too embarassed to tell him I had unprotected vaginal sex with an escort... TWICE!.... What should I do? I called an anonymous center and they wanted to charge me $350.... Isn't there anywhere I can go to get good, reliable testing, for affordable prices... or maybe even free? I went to Planned Parenthood once (before these 2 unprotected occasions) and it was free, but I hear they provide questionable testing... not very reliable.

Anyway, some help would be great... Maybe a little reassurance? What are the odds this escort would lie to me, and tell me she just got tested when she didn't, or that she was clean, when she wasn't? I keep thinking about it, and I don't see her benefit to lie about it... but you never know....

Ugh, God forgive me :(

Cool Vance. Thanks. I'll drop the further STD questions there.

I will go in at 4 months. That settles it.

STD questions post in the STD forum. But a quick and only answer on STD's here is Herpes is about 4 months but nothing is 6 months.

Hi All,

Doc called. All negative. YES! Thank you God!

8 weeks and I am negative. 4 more weeks to go.

My doctor is insisting I just wait 6 months to get re-tested. He said 3 months is 100% conclusive for HIV, but not necessarily other things. He said, to limit the amount of times I have to go have blood drawn, my 2 month is conclusive enough for him to feel confident that I do not have HIV. He said, waiting for the 6 month mark to do another complete STD panel would be the best choice.

He also said doing a bi-yearly STD panel is always a good idea, especially if I do bi-yearly blood work anyway. They can just take a couple extra vials at the same time.

I told him I would think about it, and decide if I wanted it at 3 months, or 6.

Teak, what do you think? Are there any STD's that wouldn't show up until a 6 month test? If not then I am just going to go do it @ 3 months. I don't want to wait around for the 6 month mark if there is 0 benefit in testing for other STD's.

Blahhh I can't handle the stress of waiting heh. I mean, this is basically it. I am pretty much going to know if I have HIV or not right now. If I am negative I will feel 100 million percent better. I will feel as if it is conclusive, even though it's not.

It will be easy to go into my 3 month test. feeling confident in my negative result.

God, please give me an HIV NEGATIVE result...

8 weeks is a good indication in the upper 90's for percentage, but 3 months is conclusive, not 6 months.

Hello All,

Just want everyone to know that I will be at the 8 week mark exactly, this coming friday.

I went to my doctor, because I was having some stomach problems (from prior), I told him about my 2 occasions of unprotected sex. He advised I should get a test now, and then another one after 6 months.

He said since it's only been 8 weeks since my last possible exposure, the test I am getting now isn't 100% accurate, but he said there is a 99.99999% chance it's going to be correct if it comes back Negative.

So. Just wanted to give you all an update. I will let you know my results. Also, an 8 week blood test is pretty conclusive, right? If/when it comes back negative, Should that be conclusive enough to give me the confidence to wait for a full 6 month check? It atleast will rule out my first unprotected encounter. How conclusive is an 8week blood test?

Without sounding too harsh, you had unprotected sex, therefore an HIV test would be advisable. Your risk or HIV infection is vanishingly small but there is a risk none the less.

Get tested at the three month mark for a final and conclusive result. And remember to always use latex condoms for intercourse, or you may find that eventually HIV becomes part of your life for good.

"what are the chances she had HIV... what are the chances, if she DID have HIV... that I would contract it?"

Your chances of contracting HIV are vanishingly small. See my journal (below) "HIV RIsk in Perspective".

You should expect a negative result on your test.

Yep... thats the one... I know to get tested, but thats a few weeks out... I am going to wait for the 3 month I think.

I may go to my doctor this week though and see what he thinks, if he thinks I should test now then I will, and then I'll test again at 3 months.

I really hope I am negative... Teak... I know you always preak "go get tested" but I would really appreciate if you threw out some numbers... what are the chances she had HIV... what are the chances, if she DID have HIV... that I would contract it? I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. Everything I read says about 25% chance if partner has HIV, that it will be contracted... but I dont trust that.

Any comfort would be nice... :-/ if you can provide any...

Thanks
