second exposure concerns

dear dr
my concern is that i had again sex with the lady before and with a condom . the condom did not break. i had staph infection where all the pus had run out . it is was dry no blood comng out but when i put after shave it stung me. it was on my pubic hair just below my penis shaft on my abdomen. while havinh intercourse she started her periods. when i saw that i stopped but it was a while when i saw the blood .the blood was all over my wound my question here is
1 what are my chances of getting hiv.
2 should i do a test on medical grounds not on the basis of peace of mind
3 was my wound an open wound because the after shave burnt it  i could not see any blood on it. can the virus seep through my type of wound as it does in mucuos membrane
4- should i continue sex with my wife.
5- pleeeeeeeeese give me an answer in detail as i am really freaking out .
6 what is the difference between herpes wound and staph infection wound . is it the same. do they both have access to the blood stream .
7-i have heard that the wound has to pressed for couple of minutes for the blood to go in. it should be bleeding profusely and it also depends onthe time, amount of virus, the cells it has to attach to is it true
8 the ladys history is that she had an exposure 4 weeks back where the condom was left in the vagina and her periods were on by another man she got tested two weeks back and she is negative. what areher chances of getting positive with that one exposure.if she is in the window period can she transmit it to me after 4 weeks exactly
thankyou

Answers to these questions are general knowledge questions for which answers are available elsewhere.  They are not related to your questions which have already been answered.  I will briefly provide answers to your quesitons but for more detail you need to look elsewhere.

1.  Less than 1/2 of 1% of American have HIV.  RAtes are higher among men who have sex with other men and IV drig users.
2.  It's a number's game  1 in a thousand means, on average 1 in 1000.  whether a person gets infected the 1rst time they have sex with an infected partner or the 1000th is a matter of chance.
3.  this question is answered almost daily on this site.  The presence of a cut is not high risk in nearly all cases.  Search the site.
4. I don't follow this question
5.  Rare.  See above
6.  See above.  1 in 1000 for vaginal sex
7.  You are correct

I hope these answers help.  If not, seek answers from other reputable sites.  this ends this thread.  EWH

Dear dr
thankyou for your reply . just for my knowledge these some questions i have an i will appretiate if you can answer
1) - is hiv very common in united states in the population or is it targetted to some few groups.
2) is hiv easily transmitted .can we have in one particular incident and get the hiv .when people say 1 in 1000 exposures what is the real meaning about this statement
3) lot of people say if u have a cut there is a chance of getting hiv what is your perpective on this issue . a cut with my research should be bleeding so that the other persons blood is accessable. if it is not bleeding then it means that the virus is not assecceble is this correct .
4)is the proportion of media awareness in united states hyped up about this desease or is it really there. in the common population
5) how common is it in the hetrosexuals.
6) is it the man to get hiv from a woman very difficult without a condom. ( ofcause i am going to always use a condom if i ever do it )
7) suppose if a person has herpes lesions on his penis and has unprotected sex they say it increases the risk by 2 to 3 times does that mean that it is 1 too 1000 exposure now it becomes 2to 3  to 1000 exposures is this correct .
i will appretiate your answers so i can educate my self about this desease

Your are spending an awful lot of time worrying about your exposures to this partner.  It looks to me that your fears are as much due to your own anxiety and guilt as anything else.  you need to decide of sex with this person is worth it to you.  She tells you she has been recently tested and is negative. Either believe her or don’t have sex with her.   If she is negative, you have no concerns at all about HIV.  you cannot get infection from someone who does not have infection and the chance that any partner is in the so-called window period is tiny.  In the mean time, please also continue to use condoms.

With respect to your most recent exposure, you have nothing to worry about.  Condom protected sex is safe sex and that you and recently had  a staph infection does not change this.  Nor does the fact that she was just starting her period.  Condom protected sex is safe sex.

In answer to your specific questions:

1.  Effectively zero.
2.  No medical indication for testing.
3.  No, following shaving injuries or wounds due to staph infections the body begins healing almost immediately so the virus does not have ready access to the blood.
4.  There is no reason that I see not to have sex with your wife.
5.  this is not a question
6.  No, the two types of infection are different.  The nature of the herpes lesion and how the body fights that infection is a situation which increases risk more than a staph infection would.
7.  This is wrong.  See above.
8.  Very, very low.
