testing exposure?

Dear Doctor!

I've sent already two messages here. I got tested three weeks ago negative with elisa- 74 days after the possible exposure.
I got calm, because of the result, and your answers..but, two days ago I have pain in my left arm- where I the doctor stung me with the needle, and my muscles in the lower left arm are a bit bigger than my right arm, and aching.
I don't have any other symphtomes, but I am scared again. Can this mean that I got infected during I was tested?

Do ARS symphtomes appear in the same time, or are they coming in a row?

kind regards

tika

Tika:

Just to point out, you have now posted on the HIV Prevention Community site, not the International HIV site where you posted your earlier questions.  Thus I am not Dr. Jose whom you have interacted with earlier.  I have reviewed your prior interactions with him and agree with all that he has told you.  At test at 74 days following exposure is proof that you did not get HIV and you need not be concerned further.  The discomfort you are experiencing in the arm where your blood was drawn is certainly not a manifestation of HIV acquired nearly 3 months ago but is due to something else.  For you to continue to focus on the possibility of HIV is not a good use of your time and may keep you from sorting out what is really going on.  While most unlikely, pain and swelling at the site of a previous blood draw could indicate a bruise (these occur commonly),  an infection due to introduction of bacteria at the time of the blood draw (this is quite unlikely), or it could be nothing more than a manifestation of your continuing anxiety despite negative tests. Deciding which is most likely is best accomplished through a visit to your doctor, not over the internet.  You do not need to worry about HIV however.

Finally a comment.  You may or may not know that each time you start with a new question you are charged again. However, we accept a limited number of follow-ups at no charge.  In contrast, there is not a charge for follow-up questions.  Thus if you have continuing concerns I would suggest making a follow-up comment to your original question, not starting a new one.
Hope this is helpful.  EWH
