testing timeline
I am a female who has had unprotected vaginal/ oral sex over a two week period with a male whose HIV status is unknown to me. About 3 weeks after our first sexual encounter I become sick with a running nose, productive cough, swollen neck glands, and general weakness that lasted about 4 days. At 8 weeks after the first encounter, 5 weeks after the last encounter I received a HIV test which was negative from my general practioner. I am still having the swollen neck glands (which is more pronounced on the right than the left and maybe related to gingivitis/poor oral hygiene and at times causes some difficulty with swallowing but not a sore throat) the lymph node swelling seems to go down with consistent use of clorahexidine mouth wash which was presrcibed by my periodontist, and the cough. I believe the persistent cough may be related to a 14 year pack a day smoking history. I am not sure if I scared this guy to death or what but he took off running after I started mentioning my symptoms and the possible HIV connection. What should be next testing date? It has been 6 weeks since my last sexual encounter with this guy. My lymphocytes show no abnormal elevation even with the swollen lymph glands and and cold symptoms( cbc with diffrential done 2nd day after onset of symptoms and 1 week after last sexual encounter). My general practioner reccomended I take sudafed which I haven't yet started because I believe it may be a bigger problem whose symptoms I wish not to hide. How likely is it that I am testing way too soon and antibodys have not had time to develop yet?
You seem to be trying to think of every reason that this guy is infected and gave it to you. Nobody is going to diagnose you over some symptoms that either you or that guy may or may not have. You have a negative 8 week test, which is very encouraging. Go back again in a few more weeks and get another test.
Maybe you should talk to the guy and ask him his status. I dont think most people would lie about that especially since its a murder charge in many places for lying about a positive status.

The 8 weeks is after my first encounter not the last. I believe we may have had intercourse about 3 to 4 times over the course of a two week period. Each time I remember thinking this guy is packing a bit more than average and he knows it. I also wondered how many woman he may have slept with over the course of his years. After sleeping with him, his actions led me to believe he may have been involved with his kids mom or at least that is whom he told me she was. He also had multiple pictures of woman on one of the three of his phones some naked supposedly sent to him by his notorious brother whom I never met or heard him talk to on the phone, the ones who were clothed conveniently became his family members. So I also wondered if he is with me then who is with her. He was also probably involved in some sort of illigle drug activity I know he smoked weed, but I also think his involvement may have been a bit deeper than that but I don't know how deep. Nor do a possess a way to find out, this guy was sharp he never took me to the same place twice, if he had to meet up with a friend he did so at like 24 hour fast food joint, and I never really met his friends except this one guy who appeared to be a drug dealer or something. Shady right I know. Also he was always the needy type wanting to borrow money for gas or needing a ride because the car I met him in was out of commission. He was also a bit too happy to call my house his like he was going to move in and use me or something. Now I am like thinking this guy reminds me of the Anthony Whitfield story or something. Another thing that alarmed me was his Gynemocsta (male breast enlargement). After I looked it up I found out it is associated as a side effect to the use of HIV meds. He told me he was about 28 but he struck me more as being mid 30 - maybe early 40. When I asked to see his drivers license he agreed but I am guessing after his careful thought he clammed up and didn't get it. He wasn't sickly looking ( no facial fat wasting) but his arms appeared rather thin and disporpitionate to his body size. He also had a slightly enlarged abdonminal region. I also remember him saying he was going to his car to take his medicine when I questioned it he said he was reffering to his weed.
Read my post. I really need your input. Also what do you think are the best ways to prevent this disease from spreading? When I was about 5 years old (1985) I had a cousin who had just came home from jail and was diagnosed with the disease he died about a year and half later. Do you think he was previously infected before he went to prison? How come more people live longer with the disease now than in the past without taking medicine. What are some of the reasons you have heard that cause people to infect others knowing their + status. Also I am wondering how I could start some HIV/AIDS awareness programs in my area that included testing and counseling. This really cool bus comes to our college every other week to do free HIV/ STD testing I think this would be cool for the community also. What are your views on this type of service?
You have an 8 week negative test which is considered conclusive by many. You dont have it, but go back anyway at 3 months to be 100% sure.
You are probably right, I sure hope your right. I hope this guy didn't take off because he thought I had him figured out. LOL Fortunately I did have two negative test results before this encounter and this was my only risk. So if I am HIV + I haven't infected anybody else. I will wait it out and get retested in 6 weeks and ask GOD for the strength not to get caught up in the moment again. This is really scary. Waiting and not knowing what the future holds. It sucks that it takes that long for a test to turn positive. I realize now that I am taking some big chances with the sexual decisions I make. Hopefully god will forgive me and I will be able to convince others not to take such risks. This guy was suspect from jump but still I went along with it. After, having my sexual desire met I continued to participate while ignoring that little voice in my head that was telling me to kick him out and not to let him back in.
you are testing too soon, 3 months is conclusive , i dont blame the guy for running ,he most likely thinks you gave him hiv from all your worry. ars does not produce a runny nose, you had an old fashion cold and if you had swollen lymph nodes from hiv chrolhexadrine would not get them to go down. 6 week test is encouraging so wait another 6 weeks and take a test, it will be neg and than use condoms from than on
