Dr. Hook
i received a 4 week test at the Mayo Clinic from my doctor and i'm NEGATIVE! i was extremely scared and even had to get anxiety medicine. So i know this rules out the incident back in late November, but can i be confident from my incident on Jan 10th? Thank you again!
Well i went to the doctor last Friday. He thinks i am obviously suffering from extreme anxiety and stress. He believes i am fine. He said just for formality purposes we will be doing an antibody test on Monday (4 weeks). So fingers crossed!
I have nothing more to say. My advice is that if you are being so profoundly impacted by your anxiety, you would benefit from the input of a trained counselor or mental health professional.
It is time for this thread to end. No further posts please. There will be no further answers. EWH
i understand that my anxiety is out of control. i feel as if i'm goin got have a heart attack! i called the place where the incident occurred last night and asked them if the girls were clean. the lady was somewhat rude and said she couldnt answer. she said maybe i should see a doctor.
she then asked what girl i saw. i told her and asked if she was clean or had HIV. she said she couldn't answer and that the girl no longer worked there. that really scared me.
last night i woke up in the middle of the night sweating. the sheets were a little wet and so was my pillow. i really think i got HIV now! I'm so scrared!!!!
Your anxiety is getting out of control. I've alreay told you your risk is very low.
Pubic pain is not a sign of STD.
You need to move forward. EWH

is pain in the pubic area any kind of an idication of an STD? i don't have any pain urinating or any kind of a discharge.
Dr.
i am going crazy thinking I ruined my life and my family's life. Do you believe i have nothing to worry about and that i'm driving myself crazy for nothing?
By the way, you meant that men who ARE circumsized are half as likely to get infected correct?
Thank you Dr. Hook. You have been a great help and have eased my worries. You have been a valued resource to me and i can't thank you enough. It is rare to find doctors that will answer questions from complete strangers.
Yes. Uncircumcised men, if exposed (and I repeat, it is unlikely you were exposed) are half as likely to get infected as men who are uncircumcised. EWH
Thank you so much. i've already began to lose some anxiety over this issue. i have children and don't want my selfish acts to impact their lives. i will get tested as soon as i can. does being circumsized help my odds?
Your chances of infection are low, as noted above an the fact that your partners were not only commited to condom use but also were unhappy about the breakage certainly suggests that they are careful about their risks and likely to not be infected. EWH
thank you for your rapid response. i'm so asshamed of myself. I'm so scared to get a test. i haven't had any symptoms of any other STD's. There were no cuts on my penis, and the girl had no bleeding. In fact, they were both pissed about the condom mishaps. the one girl i ejaculated into was really scared. i asked her if she was clean and she said she didn't know. after a while i asked her again and she says she gets tested every year. she stated she was clean. she said when she answered that she didn't know if she was clean it was because she was pissed and thought the condom mishap was done on purpose by me. she said i seemed like a good guy and she was just trying to scare me. Well she did.
my buddy thinks i am over worried about this. Do you?
Welcome to our Forum. I'm sorry to hear of your condom mishaps. Typically condoms fail about 1% of the time they are use. Your luck has not been very good.
As far as your risk is concerned, it is rather low. Few commercial sex workers have HIV, overall probably less than 5%. If one of your partners was infected with HIV, the risk of getting HIV from a single unprotected exposure is about 1 infection per 1000 exposures. Thus, at worse, if both women were HIV infected (very, very unlikely), your mathematical risk of infection is 1 in 500 or 1 fifth or 1%. Realistically however, your risk is less than 1 in thousands.
Testing is a good idea however, not only for HIV but for other, far more common STDs like gonorrhea an chlamydia. You can get tested for gonorrhea and chlamydia at this time. With regard to HIV, using standard antibody tests, at 4 weeks over 90% of infections will be detectable and at 8 weeks virtually all recently acquired infections will be detected.
I hope this comment is helpful. Please try not to fall into the trap of wondering if every ache, pain or fever you have between now and testing could be due to HIV. Symptoms are a terrible indicator of HIV infection. EWH
