HIV Exposure?

Hi. About a month ago I had condom protected vaginal sex with a sex worker at a massage parlor. Afterward, I realized that she had used baby oil as a lubricant. I've read that this can break down the latex in the condom. I quickly checked the condom by blowing it up with air, and it seemed OK, but I know it was probably weakened by the oil. I was not inside her for more than a minute or two. For the past few days I have had low level nausea and extreme fatigue, but no fever. What are the chances that I could have been infected with HIV? I went to the Dr. yesterday and he ordered both an HIV PCR and antibody test. The stress of waiting for the result is killing me, so it would be good to know if I should be this worried. Thank you.

Unrelated question.  Thus I will provide a single answer.  The abrasions you describe are not in any way suggestive of HPV or any other STD.

Today I have 5-6 abrasions the size of a pinhead at the end of my penis. They are painful when they rub on my underwear. Could this be a sign of HPV or some other STD? Thank you.

Welcome to the Forum.  I am confident that your HIV tests will show that you did not get HIV from the exposure you describe and can tell you with equal confidence that there is no need to seek further testing.  As you point out, the problem with petroeum based products is that they weaken condoms, increasing the risk of breakage. You condom did not break, thus you can be confident that it did its job.

I hope this comment is helpful and reduces your stress. Take care. EWH
