urgent query regarding testing method

I have done the following antibody test at 7 weeks

Test Description:-
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Vidas-bioMerieux-France (Hiv 1& 2 antibody Elisa)

Reference Range:-
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reactive if  OD>0.41 OD
Non-Reactive if OD<0.40 OD

My Result:-
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My Results came back 0.074 OD,that is <0.40 OD, which they stated Non-reactive.

Now the frightening part it is  supposed to come back 0 OD right?Do 0 OD never comes in this test?0.074 OD which is negative though but is that mean I have still hiv specific antibody present  in my body?I am in great confusion,Plz need urgent help who have knowledge about this test plz help me.Do that mean anything or its just their own range of declaring things.....plz help

as long it was below 0.41 then you dont have hiv...
you had protected sex..you did not have a risk and did not need the test to begin with..
go see a doctor regarding your health concerns
you dont have hiv

Negative is negative (but note you need to test again at 12 wks for a conclusive result). Biology is not an exact science. Antibodies are not 100% specific and hence there's some degree of reaction to HIV antigens even in people who don't have HIV. This is also the reason why some people who are negative may actually test positive, requiring other tests to be used.
For the test to indicate HIV it has to be a strong reaction, indicating that the immune system has formed specific antibodies against HIV in sufficient quantity which is found in people with HIV.

negative is negative.  i've never seen a 0.0 test result and it does not mean you have antibodies present in your body.

all you've done is ask about testing.  what was your risk?
