I got my results and all my tests were negative or normal. As for the symptoms my doctor said maybe its because of a respitory infection. Whatever the case is i dont feel as fatigued anymore and seems like the other symptoms have gone away. Thanks for your advice. To be honest your first response really helped me calm down. I was pretty stressed. Thanks!
Let us know what you tests show please. EWH
I went to the doctor. I actually had a NP do the evaluation. She asked if I have been around little children or if i have any. The answer was neither so she was surprised. She did a cough test and suggested some bronchitis. Looked at the back of my throat and seemed to find something at the back of my throat. After going home and looking at mono symptoms maybe she noticed those type of symptoms. She didnt tell me what she saw. Just seemed like she found something.
She said she would have a blood test done. I assumed blood cell count. At that time asked for an HIV as well.
When I had the blood taken the sheet said the following:
HIV
Hep Panel
RPR
CBC
Urine
I am asked for HIV so maybe she decided to include Hep. I dont know what RPR is and I am assuming CBC is the blood cell test. I dont know what the urine sample would find in this case.
After I went home to look at mono symptoms I noticed I have had almost all of them. Sore throat, swollen glands, fatigue, abdominal pains, possible liver pains. So hopefully you are correct. I have been feeling alot better lately. Still get the fatigue. I should be able to find out the results next week. Thanks again Doc!
Thanks. That helps me out a bit. I will go get a blood test as soon as i can.
Welcome back to our Forum. Your description makes it clear that you have a sore throat and the swelling of lymph nodes that can typically accompany sore throats but that by no means that you have HIV. Similarly, swollen groin glands are highly non-specific and could be due to any number of causes. My guess is that both of these sets of symptoms are just coincidentally with your sexual activity in early October. This leads me to the following suggestions.
If these problems were truly due to HIV you would have a positive test at this time. Furthermore since it has now been almost 8 weeks since your exposure, an HIV antibody test at this time will provide you with a definitive answer as to whether or not you got HIV from this exposure. I would be most surprised if you had become infected from the exposure you describe it was a single, relatively low risk exposure and the blood exposure does not change this. Once you know that this is not HIV, you may want to see your own doctor to have him/her evaluate you for swollen glands in other locations and if so, to discuss what further steps you should take to evaluate them. To be honest, you have what sounds like mononucleosis which need not have been acquired from the exposure you spoke of. EWH
