I'm right there with you. I am currently trying something called Cognitive Behaviour therapy. I suffer from anxiety so bad when confronted by authorative figures( like my boss-where there is an uneven distribution of power and even if i am right there is no winning the battle) that I start to cry,throat closes off, heart pounds and I go into full flight or fight mode. Very embarassing to say the least. What you discribed also sounds like anxiety-there are many different forms. try looking into your symptoms a bit more and talking to your doctor about ways to cope.
