Thank you for your answers , I did get to 100% of my heart rate but I was hanging on for dear life at that stage with severe shortness of breath , I got to stage 3 about 7 1/2 minutes , my chest was actually sore post test after i went home and i had a cough for a few days after the test , I think I may have pushed myself too far , anyway I was wandering about ejection fractions with exercise , because of my shortness of breath etc during exercise , but now realise there are different test that deal with that , anyway I am still anxiously waiting for my results , I did ask the technitian if all was ok , she said if she saw anything she would have stopped the test but could not comment further , so I dont know by that if the test is a Negative ?????????
I have had 18 month history of ectopics, borderline high blood pressure , 6.4 cholestorol , shortness of breath of climbing stairs in particular , chest discomforts - pain , and am overweight , do not smoke or drink ,so far the test have come back ok - only just confirming the ectopic's - so it is really frustrating - as I live with all this daily - and feel like I must be a hypercondriact because nothing is found :-(((

The ejection fraction measures how well the squeezing/pumping action of your heart is. The Bruce protocol treadmill test will not provide an ejection fraction. During the treadmill test you will walk at increasing speeds and gradients. The exercise technician (the person running the test) will acquire ECG/EKG information throughout. Your doctor will be able to see how long you are able to do and how your ECG/EKG changed (or did not change) during the test. Your physician will normally then be able to comment on whether or not they suspect you have impaired blood supply to your heart muscle that occurs with exercise.

I've never had one done and don't know much about it. However, I can't see how what you want can be verified with this test. But why, when you are at it, don't you take an Echocardiogram as well? That should give you some idea.
