Yes, I had an aortic valve replacement and had absolutely no problems post op.  Went from Intensive Care to regular cardiac floor and then gradually did things. Was very impressed how tired I got just washing up but learned to do it in stages.

Came home and gradually improved. I had a great surgeon and a great hospital.

I had my valve replaced in March this year with a St Jude valve.
I think I must be one of the unlucky ones, I have only just got over the chest pains in my sternum, some people get through without much pain at all,the pain at times, like when u cough or sneeze are the worst, feels though you are being stabbed with a 1000 knives, but I do have a bit of a problem that could have caused so much pain,my sternum is not knitting together properly from which I have to see the surgeon about next month.
I have times when I regret having this done, because of the pain and generally not feeling well,
but I have read some of the comments made by other members and that gives me some hope for the future. GOOD LUCK with yours.
