Ashtma vs Ischmia

I've been having SOB episodes for about 3 years.  It feels as if I can't fill my lungs completely.  I yawn in a futile attempt to get air.  Eventually it relents, and I get this cold sensation in my nose, throat and chest as if everything was tight and it all opened up - sort of like when a horribly stuffy nose relents and you get that burning-yet-wonderful feeling.

Anyhow, my cardiologist assures me it isn't my heart.  My pulmonologist says my tests were normal but asthma can be elusive so they didn't rule it out.  I was also told that my GERD can cause asthma-like symptoms.

Interestingly, lying down and exercise seem to relieve it.  However, talking on the phone is the worst...I begin to even feel lightheaded sometimes!

I don't *think* ischemic heart problems would behave in this manner, but I figured I'd throw it out there for your opinions.

Thanks for all the info :)

I've had the SOB for a few years.  I was diagnosed with a borderline peripartum cardiomyopathy last March after the birth of my son, but it resolved.  It seemed like the SOB episodes did too, but now they're back.  I was on Benzodiazepine medication (Ativan) for 6 years.  I've now been off of it for a year and I feel better in most ways.

I passed my pulmonology tests with flying colors.  My O2 is always 97-98% even when I feel like this.  I'm at a loss!

My Cardiolite scan was perfect, as was my stress test, echo, EKG, etc. recently, and two Holters.

I do have scoliosis and back problems, and I do have esophageal isssues (spasms, problems swallowing, etc.) so perhaps it's just that.  *shrugs*  I hope that's all it is.

I appreciate all the info.  Hopefully you and I can get some answers and relief soon!
