Bad sharp pain in laft half of chest and part of arm for over 40min?

I hope i am posting this in the right place. I really dont know what this was. I was up one morning getting my grandmother breakfast when i got a sharp pain in the whole left side of my chest and part of my uper left arm. It was tollerable when i was standing streight up but if i bent over at all or layed down my heart started beating really hard and fast and the pain it my chest would become 10times worse until i stood up streight and stayed that way. This lasted at least 40 minutes and then slowly calmed down and went away.

I have in the past when i had been running or swimming get another type of pain not as bad but like a needle that felt like it was in my heart and i would have trouble breathing. This would usualy last between 10 - 15 minutes and it didnt happen very often.

These things are starting to really worry me but im not sure if maybe its just a muscle cramp or stress causeing it? I would love any Suggestions i can get about this, thank you.

Hi,

Better safe than sorry.  Talk to your doctor.  They may set you up for a stress test.  Stress tests usually involve hooking you up to a monitor while you run on a treadmill.

It could be a simple nerve problem, but dont leave it to chance.

Take care.
