purple lips

Hi. I Have had all kinds of symptoms lately.
I have been thinking anxiety/panic attacks. My heart can race, im fatigued often and a million other symptoms, like yawning frequently, nausea before eating etc...

I guess my main question has to do with blue/purple lips. Co-workers sometimes tell me my lips are blue or purplish.
Im 26 and falling apart...lol
Just waiting for some blood test results to come back but never told the Doc about the blue lip thing. Any advice?

Go back to yoga class. Expanding your chest is a form of shallow breathing. Diaphragmatic (belly) breathing is the deep form of breathing .More air is inhaled if you flex your diaphragm rather than your rib cage. I learned that in karate class.

The same question was asked over on the doctor's forum in 2001 (http://www.medhelp.org/forums/cardio/messages/32983.html). Here's how the doc answered:

"Low oxygen content of the blood can cause blue lips. This can be due to low blood counts or due to problems with oxygenation of the blood. It would be interesting to know what your blood oxygen saturation is during the episodes. Do they last for very long? If so then your brother may have time to come over to your house to check with a saturation monitor (many EMTs have this equipment). If it is low then your doctor would have to look for sources of low blood oxygen such as blood clots, sickle cell disease or other hemoglobin abnormalities. A hematologist could check for these various disorders." (CCF-M.D.-CRC).

When you went to your doc did they first do a screening on you...I know mine does every single month..they take blood pressure, pulse, oxy level, weight and listen to my heart..actually its the nurse that does that...do you remember having a little clip put on your finger? If not, when your blood work comes back just ask what your oxy level was when you came in..if they didnt check it,,,some supermarkets have it...but at the very least just tell them and they will check it...just wondering but do you notice your lips being diff in color?..blood work will rule out, if they checked, for high levels of metals in your blood which can cause blue lips..anway...you are not falling apart...read some posts in here and see what a lot of us are going thru and you will see that you are having some health concerns,,which happens, but dont over react...this can be something very simple....Good luck
