Very normal to feel your heart beating stronger on the left side of the body when laying down...........nothing odd about that...especially if you are of low body fat.......
Regular heart beat?.................great good for you!
A lot of us can't lay on our left side cause it starts palps or even afib in some of us!
Consider yourself fortunate.........you have a heathly heart.........don't worry about that left side stuff, experiment with placing pillows around you.....under you neck etc to where you aren't pushing your ribcase up against the mattruss and then you won't notice it as much........soon you fall asleep.
I had that problem back in my college days...........I learned to sleep on my back or right side until I was practically asleep and then if I wanted just slide over on my left side......I was so tired by then I didn't notice anything and off to dreamland I went.................It takes a little practice but over time it works fine then you forget about it...........for me it wasn't until 30 years later when I developed afib that I had an issue with laying on my left side again..........but that is a different thing al together than what you are concerned about.
Hope this helps and my best to you!
Yep, happens all the time to many of us.
Most doctors will tell you that you just feel it more. I tried convincing my cardiologist that, no, I actually *HAD* them more. When he did my echo (you lay on your left side for this) my heart proved I was not just imagining things.
If you read through the archives here you'd see that observation about a thousand times
People are more aware of their heart lying on the left side, it brings the heart closer to the chest wall that's why they have you lie on your left side when you get an echocardiogram.
You can get an event monitor if you wish, but WPW is unlikely and even so it's usually not dangerous (sudden death rate of of =0.6% ) .
You have a lot of worry and fear and it has so far proven to be unfounded. Having an exaggerated reaction to your body is often more of a problem than anything it's doing.
Maybe you should make a concerted effort to form and write down a plan to follow to help wean you from obsessing about your heart.
palps while on the left side are common due to the shift in blood volume and pressure within the body.. it is not symptomatic of anything...
Where you symptomatic while on the holter? if so, with a negative holter, you shouldnt worry about WPW... if you didnt have an episode while on the monitor, ask for an event monitor just to be safe, but it sounds like you are having health anxiety.. Dont stress about things that happen to other people that will probably never happen to you :) it can be such a waste of life
I'm a 21 year old male and am worried about Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome. My heart rate sometimes feels like it goes really fast and I get lightheaded. I just read about a 21 year old athlete having WPW syndrome, and this worried me more. I've had an ekg, echo, and holter for 24 hours and palpitations were the indication of the holter, but I'm worried I might have WPW syndrome. Please read and respond with anything about WPW and my palps while lying on the left side........thank you!
