Cholesterol test (this week)

Not a question, just to say how the recession in the UK has affected me. I am no longer allowed to have
Ezetimibe prescribed due to NHS cuts. My total cholesterol was 146 when taking this with statins, and
my blood test this week reveals total cholesterol of 220 which is a tad above the national average of 212.
I hope the higher cholesterol doesn't cause my arteries to start blocking again.

You are much younger than I am and my Cholesterol is on average at 260 so maybe you can look forward to make it at least that far - another 20 years perhaps. I refused to take any more Statins a couple of years ago due to severe side effects. We'll see how that goes in the long run.

even with hypercholesterolemia?  When I had my heart attack my cholesterol total was 9.8mmol/L and it would return to this without statins. I did last 45 years with such high cholesterol before having a blocked artery, so maybe it wasn't as harmful as they make out.

"Mediterranean diet ‘as good as statins’ at reducing heart attack risk" Maybe the NHS heard the news. *grins*
